Roy wasn't stupid, he knew he'd get KTFO by Lewis, the actual world champion.

What was he taking? How long for?

He achieved greatness in his career.

He started out at under 160 in 1989, and ended up beating a top 5 HW in dominant fashion at 34, after having had 50 fights.

He was a four weight world champ, including being the unified LHW champ, he was undefeated in 49 fights bar a DQ, and he was declared the fighter of the decade.

    What more did you want?

If you can't appreciate that, then you nothing about this great sport.

Roy was a 5'10, 35 year old LHW.

But Lewis expressed interest in fighting Roy, and they spoke of a potential fight, before Lewis decided it was the right time to hang them up.

What Jones did against Ruiz was a regular occurrence for lighter-weight fighters in the early to mid 1900's. Everyone got excited because it had been ages since a smaller guy jumped up and knocked off a rated heavyweight, when the reality was that the very average, lumbering cuddler Ruiz was tailor-made for Roy. It doesn't rank up there with his best wins, that's for sure.

exactly, david haye beat valuev who was a foot taller than him and about 4 stone heavier, but the reality of it is valuev is shite at boxing so roy beating a very limited bigger man who was light years slower than him isnt all that

he tested positive for an anabolic steroid (cheating) he was caught out because he didnt realise the tests he was doing where for steroids. what is to say he wasnt doing this throughout his whole career ? the simple fact he was caught is enough to say **** u roy your accomplishments with the aid of steroids mean jack ****

No HW is tailor made for a 34 year old LHW.

Ruiz wasn't great, but it was still a great win at that point of Roy's career.

I agree about the fighters of the past. They deserve a huge amount of credit.

But let me ask you two questions.

    1. How many other LHW's were knocking on Ruiz's door late in 2002?

    2. How many other guys have made the same jump to fight ANY HW, since Roy did it 11 years ago?

    Read carefully.

David Haye was a 29 year old HW when he fought Valuev, with 23 fights on his resume. He's also 6'3, with a 78' reach.

Roy Jones was a 5'10, 34 year old LHW, who'd fought nearly 50 times, and who'd started out below 160 pounds in 1989.

    What is it to say?

Exactly! It's pure speculation on your part. So stop talking as though it's factual.

read what i said carefully.my point wasnt who deserves more credit for the win it was that by fighting someone who is bigger but in every other department is inferior plus the fact he was juiced to the eyeballs doesnt cut it as a great achievement

You can't type that, when you've just said 'what is there to say.....'

You've got nothing to back up your claims.
