Pernell Whitaker is one man who would have beaten Duran by UD. Not saying he would knock him out.

Dominates a division then keeps moving up and winning titles ! Past his prime and way past his optimum weight... This thread is a joke !!

Duran as a lightweight was great, but he was also a little over rated north of the division. Duran won the lightweight title over Buchanan via low blow KO, though Duran was in the lead at the time of the foul which was not seen or called by the referee.

I can not name one fighter who was both taken out on one punch early ( Hearns ), and quit in another fight ( Duran ), that qualifies as an all time great, but Duran does.

Hall of fame guys for sure, but also a bit over rated if you ask me.

Duran coming up in weight beat the greatest fighter of the last 35 yrs. Montreal Duran h2h would of been a nightmare for any boxer of any era including Robinson, Napoles, and esp Floyd. He arguably has the greatest win at ww in boxing history when he wasn't a real ww.

The topic is asking if Duran is the most overrated boxer ever. Duran faced a prime Leonard. They can say Leonard wasn't in his prime but that is a garbage and hollow statement.

Duran is one of the best Lws of All Time. The rest is the result of ignorance or blasphemy.

what does being a good lightweight, have to do with being ranked as a top 10 atg. you do realize joe gans ruled 135 for 8 years not 6 like duran. and fought twice as many champions as duran.

Yeah, a lightweight who handed SRL his first professsional defeat in Montreal for a welterweight title, came back from a loss against the same, won a superwelterweight title against a heavy hitter Moore who had Benitez reeling, stepped up and despite being flattened by Tommy, gave a hell of a fight against Marvin, still won a decision in Panama City against the guy who made short work of Tommy, Iran The Blade Barkley, would fight Sugar man for a third time and fought until late at SMW, MaƱitas de Piedra never took a beating from Norris or Macho Camacho, yeah.

Many guys have dominated a weak division. Virgil Hill should be the best ever. The guy had 25 title defenses. See how Duran is overrated?????

saying he was prime is hollow also. The man admits to wanting to beat Duran at his own game right???. That is not a prime fighter. Define what prime means because to me it means the mind and body are at one. Experience and reflexes. Ray was not experienced enough so how can he be prime? And this an ongoing issue with the fight. Rays experience. The win against Ray was Ray's fault. But he sure made up for it in the rematch.

if Ray was so prime tell me this. Had ray retired after Duran beat him in the first fight, where would he be ranked now? Ray wouldnt be in the top 200. That is how prime ray was. ray became a great fighter after he beat great fighters
