Plenty of people picked John Ruiz to beat Roy because of the size difference.. After Roy made it look easy, then it was a cherry pick, people just can't stand the fact that Roy Jones won a major belt at HW.:|

Really, Roy fighting a half-decent HW would come down to the fact that the HW can take Roy's best shots, but Roy probably can't take his.

Apparently, Roy mentioned fighting Holyfield after the Griffin rematch. I think that version of Holyfield would knock him out. Remember, that happened in 1997, one year after Holyfield beat Tyson.

Ruiz was a slow, feather-fisted, relatively small HW.

The difference there is that Spinks beat THE champ at HW, Larry Holmes. Roy only beat a trinket belt holder.

That isn't what happened. Holyfield didn't 'decline' as you put it. He was going to unify with Lennox Lewis in one of the biggest fights of the past 3 decades at Heavyweight. He was guaranteed 20 mil. Holyfield was doing what Jones refused to do in his career and that is fight the best available fighters and take risks.:rofl

I have been telling them this for years now and they just ignore it. Jones handpicked Ruiz who is one of the worst Heavyweight beltholders because that is all he was a beltholder NOT a champion that was Lennox Lewis

Ummmmm, they had those discussions when Holyfield was WBA/IBF champion and about to fight Lennox :lol::lol::lol:

Like I said wrong time frame. You don't even know what you are posting about. Glass Jaw Roy had been pretending and 'talking' like he was going up to Heavyweight as early as 1997 and didn't do it until he could cherrypick Ruiz.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Jones wouldn't even fight a guy that had been in a Diabetic Coma because his daddy knew that Glass Jaw was getting Shattered.

That's funny I thought they war around the same time Ruiz was WBA champ :think

And it's funny you said its embarrassing of him to ask for 100 mil for Tyson but didn't LL just do that with Vitali for a come back ? I see how you roll .

And your faulting at best a small lt HW for not fighting a guy who was 6'3 246 ..

Yeah OK Roy should take all the blame for that .

Lennox while I do believe he should have given Vitali a rematch was/is retired at the time of the 100 mil statement. Tyson wasn't. But he was so far gone and washed up that is an embarrassing quote from Roy. That was his M.O though 'act' like you want to fight someone then make absurd and comical demands knowing damn well the fight can't b e made on those terms. He did it for basically his whole career. Never has a fighter 'talked' with so many different fighters, promoters, and managers and not been able to make the fights but the Jones nuthuggers on here tell us it was always the other participants fault. :rofl:patsch

Jones was a Glass Jawed Prima donna that wasn't going to take any risks for fear of getting knocked out cold and it ended up happening anyway. Several times.:patsch

Spinks beat a past it Larry Holmes in a weak era... Jones was in an era with prime massive Super HW's like Lennox Lewis and the Klit brothers... Spinks would have just been a trinket holder as well in Lennox's era.. Not to mention, Spinks was a big LHW that moved up, Roy started at 154...
