video:Hopkins takes Shumenov's belts at presser, should Shumenov have done something?

Damn, is Shumenov in a trance? He literally didn't even bat an
eyelash the whole video. That's cold and calculated.

 

I still want to see Hopkins get KO'd just as much as I did before I watched the video.
Basically, I'm sitting here like Shumenov.

 

These guys have met before. If Bernard respected him he would not have done such a thing.

But to answer your question, yes, Shumenov should not have let it happen. Stand up and stop him, take them back, swear, push, shove, punch, whatever way you want to stop it. But show him who he's dealing with.

 

Shumenov showed as much reaction as a turnip.

For some people it's "mind games", but in reality it's a lack of professionalism.

Shumenov did the right thing. Him reacting would have played right into Hops trap, which is to get inside his head.

 

Am I the only one who thinks it's embarrassing that a 50 year old is trying to play mind games? He should beat Shumenov because he's far more skilled, what's the point in this sort of nonsense? I'm sure Hopkins was far more mentally strong (however you define that) than Dawson, but that didn't stop him losing the boxing match. Hopkins got in Calzaghe's head, that didn't stop him losing. Hopkins talked all that **** about Jermaine Taylor not being ready and he still got beaten. Playing mind games doesn't make you faster or stronger, I think he does it to sell the fight to morons who think it's part of some master plan.

It caused enough reaction for someone to start this thread, and many others like it on many more boxing sites.
Compare that to the Klitscho pre-fight bore-fest which creates as much excitement as scrubbing a public toilet.

Look at Shumenov's face.. "dumb American" he's thinking. However, he stays calm and collected. Hopkins disrespected the wrong guy.

 

Hopkins did not bother Shumenov. Hopkins has his referee, judges, boxing commission,etc., to help him win the fight.............
