I've always wondered about that fight. Was there no rule allowing Buchanan five minutes recovery back then?

Duran was clearly winning at the time of the low blow.

However, he should have been DQ'd regardless.

No i don't think so back in those days there were a lot less regulations, and Duran out of frustration/anger just slammed him in the balls, and Buchannan couldn't go on so on a bull**** call Duran was awarded the KO:-(

I totally agree Duran should have been DQ'D or at the very least the bout should have been ruled a no contest with a rematch in 3 -4 months...

It doesn't just fit. It is the definition of the topic.

The thing with Duran v Buchanan it was a double whammy, because although the blow was extremely low it was also well after the bell.
Duran was winning though although the fight was competitive.

Urban myth, Moore was winning fairly comfortably by the time the fight was stopped...

Not one known for his power, but Sweet Pea had to turn around his fight with Hurtado to save his 'superfight' with De La Hoya. Who knew Whitaker would never win another pro fight?!
