So you're telling me Wlad gets no favourable treatment from refs? Why was he not allowed hold in America , but can do it non stop in Europe? Do you think Miles Lane would of acceped Wlad performing like that?
Well according to you it depends upon whether or not Mills Lane had been paid off, surely? I remember in America he was allowed to hang his left hand against Iggy, that wasn't pleasant. The referee against Povetkin was dirt. Assuming it as inarguable proof of corruption is not reasonable though. Even in Bradley-Pacquiao I it had to be allowed that there may have been two judges that were just mongs.
Mac......you've never led me to believe YDKSAB:huh So I know you've known who Leapei was for at least 3 yrs. He was a very well known clubby until 2009 whne he rematched and beat a solid journeymen, Colin Wilson for the WBO Pacific title. He continued to beat cans/clubbies until he met fellow banging big man, Travis Walker. He did to Walker what Walker has done to soooo many.....he KHTFO. Yeah, Walkers somewhat chinny, but he has undeniable one punch power. Leapei rode the momentum of that KO winning 6 more consecutive fights vs high level journeymen, fringe contenders, gatekeepers and clubbies. On April 1 2012, he had a horrible game plan against Kevin Johnson. Knowing he was the stronger fighter, the more active fighter and higher volume punching fighter, he looked to take KJ out with his superior power. Well it was April Fools day for him, b/c nobody has KOd Kevin Johnson, and Leapei was fooled as KJ played the role of Ali in the rumble in the jungle, doing the rope a dope on him and eventually stopping the hard charging Leapei when he gassed late in the fight. As he went back to the drawing board, fighting for a living, he continued a 4 win streak of clubbies before he came in as a rated WBO "OPPONENT" for highly touted Denis Boytsov. A legitimate top 30 opponent for Boystov to legitimize his mandate for Wladimir, since it was Fury's fight to be had before the Haye debacle. Going into the Boytsov fight, no one considered Leapei more than a fringe contender....a ranked name opponent for someone to "stay busy" against......much the same as a Walker, or Sprott or Liakovich. Just a name to add to resume, and maintain or boost the rating of a legit contender. But what transpired in Germany late November 2013 is something of boxing legend. The kindof feel good story that fans love......the "opponent" became the man. For 10 rds, this CLUBBY, this fringe contender, this Fork Truck driver battered and abused an underprepared Denis Boystov from pillar to post, from bell to bell. Does Leapei deserve a title shot b/c of it.......IDK....there are others more deserving. But he did what those others refused to do. He took the big fight, vs the dominant contender and he beat the fukk out of him. Now......I know you know your boxing, and yeah, Leapei doesnt have the hype of a Fury or a Wilder or an Arreola. But I also know you knew who he was before the Boystov fight, and if you truly did not.....than you don't know near as much about boxing as I thought you did.:nono
Mills Lane would of thrown Wlad out of the building and you know it. That is why Lane is a HOF inducted referee and Paybon is a slimely ,reprobate who never will be.
I don't know it. It seems extremely unlikely to me - I'd suggest it almost certainly wouldn't have happened. He certainly would have warned Wlad. He might have taken a point. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he would have taken two. But the notion that a fighter of Wladimir's experience and class wouldn't have adjusted to the first warning, like literally thousands of other fighters down the year have done, is pretty out there. It's crazy, almost.
All I know him for is the loss to Johnson. That's it. I read about what happened with Boy, but I didn't bother to watch it. If that means I don't know boxing, that's what it means.
Lane would of DQ'd Wlad within 3 rounds against Povetkin. He had no tollerence for that ****. None. He fired Hopkins threw the ropes for holding against Robert Allen so why should it seem 'extremely unlikely'? Maybe you have forgotten how good and how strict Lane was? Give me a break. A man of class would not fight and foul guys the way he does. Wlad is a cowardly bully in the ring and at the negotiating table. He has zero class as a boxer. He might as a person , but we are not taking personalities here.
You've read my post. You understand completely what I am saying. I am saying that Wlad wouldn't have fouled that much, so no, he wouldn't have been disqualified. If you, for some reason, are imagining a deaf Klitschko who for that reason continues to midlessly foul Povetkin despite the first warning, the second warning, the third warning, the first point deduction, the second point deduction, the final warning, the final, final warning and then the disqualification then I think yes, most referees would dq him. But that would never happen, it's a made up fantasy bizarre in the extreme. Not "class" as in "he's a classy guy, he opens the doors for all the ladies", class as in "world class". World champions have been dq'd, but it is rare. I actually think it's questionable that a club fighter would continue to foul in this way, actually. Stopped reading here.
Hopefully we can get this one out of the way and hurry up to a meeting with Fury/Stiverne or Arreola/Wilder/Pulev. I'd imagine Pulev will be next. A legitimate top 10 fighter. Hopefully Wilder can destroy Stiverne or Arreola and the fight can be hyped enough where a sizeable amount of people watch Wlad vs. Wilder.
Im Boystovs biggest hater on this board.....but......... Zoltan Petrany, Edison Antonio, Andrej Pala, Juan Diaz, Robert Hawkins, Vinny Maddalone, Israel Garcia, Taras Bydenko, Jason Gavern, Mike Sheppard, Ding Wilson, and Dominic Guinn are all notable wins. Petrany, Antonio, Diaz, Hawkins, Sheppard, and Garcia are all solid wins. All on par with the typical contenders LOC. Those wins alone are typically enough to qualify a contender for a high ABC ranking. Pala, Bydenko, Gavern, Guinn, Ding, and Maddalone are just about enough to get a fighter a title shot. Gatekeepers if you will. The fact that he fought so many before finally making a MOVE toward a title fight is what's discouraging about Boytsov. I think in DBs case his promotional problems screwed him and then when he finally got up with Suaerland, they fast tracked him while he was still outta shape. If Boystov hasnt given up altogether, he'll get back into contention, and possibly be a factor in this new post K2 era. He's still young enough to make an impact, and in shape, he'd beat the Arreolas and the Perezs and Jennings of the division.:think
I always assumed you were a fightfan, not just a WHO's WHO type of top 10s. You don't give me a fanboy or hater vibe, or a nationalist vibe, so I assumed you would have really knew who Leapei was. Then again, not many of us fans follow boxing to such an extent that they are looking at Fedosov and Martz as future contenders.:yep:yep
Only thing made up here is your assement and thought process when it comes to Wlad. Pabon took a point from Wlad against Povetkin , yet Wlad just went back to the same level of fouling he was commiting before the point deduction. So not only would Wlad of kept fouling after repeated warnings , he would still continue do so after Lane takes a point. This isn't 'imagining'. This is based off solid facts. Fighting the way he does , especially against Mormeck is cowardice personified.
Seeing every conceivable fighter who could hold Leapai levels of relevance for every weight division is almost impossible. When you are extremely interested in the history of the fight game, which I am, it is literally impossible, even if you work in boxing full time which I don't. So you prioritise. I was writing about Roman Gonzalez before he was a title-holder and previewing Naoya Inoue when he was 2-0. Both of these guys are far, far more interesting than Leapai will ever be...unless he wins...
