Gotcha.....see, this is where you and I differ..... In the lower weight classes, belts get tossed around like hot potatoes for yrs and yrs and the truly great fighters never seem to stick around the weight they first came into contention. I find that very hard to follow. In the higher weight classes, especially, CW and HW, you can virtually keep your eyes fixed on 30-35 guys and watch them progress or fade into stardom or obscurity.
Disagree with your take completely, I think you are wrong. I think that Wladimir would have stopped fouling before being disqualified, I think you are silly claim that it is undeniably the case that he would have been DQ'd. Why do you think the referee took a point? If he had been paid off, why would he do that?
I'm not married to the lower weight classes - I love CW for example...i just like the really good divisions, and HW is pretty horrible IMO. Fly is clearly he best weight right now.
You are questioning weather Wlad commited fouls against Povettin because Pabon did nothing about it. The stance you take proves you wrong before you even begin. If he took one point late , why did he not take one eariler or take another one, because he was doing the same **** every round. He even threw Poevetkin to the ground by a neck lock and got it counted as a KD. You cannot say he would of stopped because 'he got a point taken' because he did not stop. So only one conculsion is to be made and that it that Lane would of DQ him. You cannot speak on his behalf personally and say he would of done this or that. The facts tell the story here.
I can say one thing honestly i dont think there was a time in history of boxing that fight for HW title had less meaning, i;m hard core fan but even though i know about this fight its like i forgot it even happening, and we have tremendously talented power punching champion who with all his talent and skill makes every fight impossible to watch.:-((
I'd say that it's obviously the case, and is obviously the case for any fighter. You think Mares keeps blasting Agbenko in the balls if the referee tells him, "you are going to be DQ'd if you do that again"? Really? It's stupid. :nut But why did he take a point if he was on the payroll, for the third time of asking. But I DIDN'T say that. This is something that you have made up in your head. I said: " continues to midlessly foul Povetkin despite the first warning, the second warning, the third warning, the first point deduction, the second point deduction, the final warning, the final, final warning" Not "he would stop after one point deduction". It's like this - you think Wlad DEFINITELY would have been DQ'd if he'd fought Povetkin in America (I think). I think that's stupid. You're not going to change my mind, and I'm not going to change yours. So that's that. You haven't really produced any. Sorry. I wish you wouldn't get so overexcited. The first part of this conversation really wasn't objectionable.
So it wouldn't look so blantanly obvious. He wanted to have some shred of decency left when the debacle was over. Genaro also took a point in the Haye fight. Do you honestly think either of them the would ever DQ the cash cow of Europe? The Brewster ref warned Wlad over and over to stop fouling and when he did , he got blown away , so its very likely he would continue untill he was DQ'd were Lane the ref. Lane doesn't even have to be the ref. Any neturel ref would of DQ'd him for that performance because he made it clear there was no way in hell he was prepared to box Povetkin. That decision came prefight. That sort of mugging is practiced in camp. It was all planned and set up from the get go. With a fair ref , he probably would never of fought him.
It's absurd to claim that a long reigning experienced champion wouldn't be able to recognize when to stop clinching while referee warning him, not to mention his influence. It's Wladimir Klitschko we are talking about, not Golota. I've read somewhere that he is now fully dedicated to being a trainer.
So, to be clear, you're saying that referee Pabon had been paid of by Wladimir Klitshcko not to disqualify him. The proof is that he didn't disqualify him. The further evidence is that he took away a point. And you don't see a problem with that?
The fight was such an atrocity that a poor spectator croaked from the horror. The fight was viewed as a disgraceful foul fest by practically everybody who saw it? The fight got him nicknamed Grabimir Klincko. You won't convince anybody he fought a clean fight within the rules and why you are attempting to is all explained in the first sentence of the first you posted in this thread.
It didn't go down particularly well, although i'll admit that first time round i kinda liked it. you're having a giggle I guess. Just for any kids reading this, I don't think he "fought a clean fight", "within the rules" and nor am I attempting to persuade anyone he did. That's all made up. In your head.
