His only notable victory was over froggy mate Thierry Karl, but he spent many years mucking about the French & Euro scene and was competitive with some decent operators.

Let us also not forget what Khomitsky did to Buglioni...

Smith weighed in 171.5, Bastient 177.75lbs

 

Round 1

Bastient is walking forward, guard squeezed up tight. Sharp jabs by Smith, widening his daddy-long-legs stance and covering half the ring with it, able to maintain balance while feeding jabs into Bastient's forehead and keeping his upper body well out of reach. Bastient hurtles in some overhand rights, falling short. Bastient whips in some low hooks on the belt line and Smith turns with them, not much bothered. Sharp jabs and 1-2s by Smith, giving Bastient respect on the outside.

I wouldn't call it a failure, though. He didn't really gun for it and is clearly looking to get some work done tonight.

 

Round 2

Bastient is digging hooks into the body with both hands, reeling his fists in to wrap them up overhead in between salvos. Smith kicks out his back leg and lines Bastient up for arrow-straight diagonal jabs downward and long hefty right uppercuts from outside. Bastient is backed up and taking some abuse on the body, unable to reciprocate from outside. Bastient weathers it and steps through, shelling up, swatting at the body as he gets close. Smith is mixing in some left hooks on the gut now.
