I've been missing a fighter as exciting in the welterweight division for years. With someone like Keith Thurman, I know what to expect, the excitment isn't as strong. I know I'd be overrating him from this performance (Porter needs to prove himself more) but he looked like a welterweight from the 80's in there i.e he looks like he came from the Starling, Curry, Honeyghan etc. era.

I really am rooting for this guy now and this performance has convinced me to watch Alexander-Porter.

I agree. I`m rooting for him too. Nobody messes up Paulie like that. That was a real statement win.

He probably won't get a fight with FLoyd anytime soon, but I would love to see Porter take on Thurman.

That's currently one of the best matches they can make in the WW division.

Lets see if Kell Brook has any interest in actually being a relevant boxer and fighting Porter this fall. After last night's performance, I think Brook might feel more comfortable taking on tomato cans in England for the foreseeable future.

Those are some very interesting examples of good WW fighters.

Honestly, Porter kind of reminded me of Hawk Pryor; his best defense is his suffocating offense. He looked very determined last night and I'm quite impressed that he knocked out a guy like the Magic Man whose known as someone with a good beard.

I don't know what you mean about Thurman, to me he looks like the other most exciting prospect in the WW division outside of Porter.

I'd love to see those 2 go at it for 12 rounds, that would be a helluva fight and put the winner in the fast track for WW stardom.

I think he beats Brook and Thurman, but FMJ and Pac beats him

Because Porter hasn't done enough yet to deserve a shot at the P4P king.

He needs to string together a couple quality victories before his name is mentioned as possible opposition with the top WW's.

I will say though for a guy with as much energy and explosiveness as Porter, he's a short WW. I'd like to see how he'd fare against one of the top fighters who is taller, has a longer reach and can potentially keep him at bay with their jab.

Just to let you know, FLoyd holds a 2 inch height advantage and almost a 4 inch reach advantage against Porter. If the fight ever were to materialize, Porter would have to sell out and attempt to fight him in the inside which is easier said than done.

His next fight should be against his mandatory-Brook, and if he wins that than maybe a bout with Thurman for the right to take on FLoyd in fall 2015. That's if both Thurman and Porter keep winning.

I hope they don't cash Thurman and Porter out against Mayweather early. Those guys could actually give Mayweather hell if they make the fight at the right time.

It's called sparring which means practice and learning. There's a reason no world championship is on the line there.

He got a draw against Diaz a few fights ago, so I am guessing he has improved big time since then based on recent performances and results.

Still favour Pacquiao to beat him but getting dropped by an Elite level fighter when you're still up and coming and trying learn the game, doesn't mean a whole lot.
