How would Quigg fare against Santa Cruz?

People underestimate Quigg. Everyone is on Framptons nuts and I can see why because he looks special but Quigg is very very good and is only going to get better. I would favor Leo against him but i give Quigg a decent chance.

Thing is tonight told us nothing really, He needs a tough fight, For Frampton that fight was Kiko so if i was Quigg i'd target Kiko, Frampton and LSC would be a step up from that and he hasn't proven to be able to beat Martinez yet.

 

like quigg and frampton, might even be going to quiggs gym for a fun training session soon.

Salinas is better than anyone Frampton's fought, certainly poor old Kiko.

Quigg is kind of Underrated on here, people make out like Frampton will murder him, I think Carl wins but no way will it be one sided.

 

Did Quigg not beat Munroe not long after he beat Martinez? Munroe that Quigg beat was better than Martinez than Frampton beat.

 

I admire Quigg and have always said so - but this is wrong, just wrong.

With all due respect Carl beat an absolute beast of a peak Kiko - a far better fighter than Rendall ever was, never mind the washed up version of Rendall that Quigg beat.

Kiko went through a deep slump period in his career which affected his performances, but a peak Kiko - such as the one that ko'd Bernard Dunne before his form dipped and the newly rejuvenated Kiko that lost to Frampton and went on to win a title is a real handful.

To answer the OPs question, Quigg would probably do very well against LSC - maybe even win. But Frampton more than likely beats both. I cant seperate Quigg/Kiko/LSC by much at all. On any given night any one gives any other all he can handle.

Munroe did beat Kiko twice Len. I don't really rate his win over Dunne either. Dunne didn't want to know against Munroe and is one of the most fortunate world titlists I can remember. He caught lightening in a bottle on a great sporting day for Ireland but let's face it wasn't up to much.

The emerald isle has had far better boxers than Dunne who haven't been gone further/made it than European level let alone worlds.

Frampton beats Kiko again. Quigg does similarly.

 

Agree Dunne was nothing special but your wrong about Munroe, Bernard Dunne had a cist on his brain nothing serious but it prevented him from fighting in the UK, he was actually orignally going to sign with a UK promoter but after scans he knew he wouldn't get a licence because the BBBOC is so strict, basically he had what Wayne Mcullough had that prevented him from fighting for years. There is a reason Dunne never fought in the UK, Murnoe didn't want to come to Ireland and Dunne couldn't fight in the UK, i read Dunne's book and by all accounts Munroe was a fight he would have loved. Kiko that fought Frampton was a beast much better than the guy who fought Munroe, That win is better than anything Quigg has done, stupid to dispute that really.

 

There isn't anything in it worth debating but I do think he did enough to get the win against a decent Salinas who would present problems for anyone. Would you be at all confident that Kiki would beat Salinas? I wouldn't.

Quigg is criminally underrated on these boards, and the fact that he's getting some recognition of late due to stopping his last couple of opponents, speaks volumes about how some posters rank fighters.
Quigg would be a handful for any of the title holders, and those who think Frampton would simply walk through him are way wide of the mark.
Quigg is improving with every fight, and the fact that he's now prepared to let his hands go right from the off, tells me his confidence is improving also.
He may hold a cheap version of the title, but that doesn't mean he's not capable of winning one of the other belts.
