Being in a title fight doesn't improve you ability to take a shot does it?

No, just realistic and not a blind fanboy, nothing to do with hate. But people on here are generally of low intelligence and do not use reason or logic to form their opinions, which is why they think things like Kell Brook is World class, Nathan Cleverly was going to beat Kovalev, Hatton was going to beat Mayweather, Calzaghe would beat prime Roy Jones etc.

Stopped Judah with a body shot. Dropped Peterson.

I was wondering how long it'd be before everyone started hyping up porter.

Paulie is clearly finished at the top level and is well known to have no power to keep a guy like Porter off him. We shouldn't read too much into this.

Actually looking forward to this fight. Brook V Porter should be fun.

Its not just Paulie tho. He's also got a good win over Alexander and has been able to avenge the Diaz draw. A Diaz who didn't look as bad as advertised v Khan still had something left.
Brook has ability but he's nit been matched well. Where are the experienced ex champs on his record? Etc Brook might catch Porter with a decent shot but equally porter might be able to get inside easily and bust Kell up.

Brook will loose, if he was manged right he would be in with a good shout, what will cost him is the gulf in levels, his best wins are European level fighters the difference between who he has fought to Porter is massive, I don't think he will be able to make such a leap up in such a big fight and win, he also seems to have regressed while waiting around for so long, in reality Brook has no experience beyond European level and if he fights Porter this is what ultimately costs him.

Like I said in the post Paulie-Porter thread, if I see over 2-1 odds on Brook for ANYONE in the division I'm taking it. Let the knee-jerkers hype Porter to the hills! All the better for skewing the odds. Judging by the "He's an unstoppable beast" type comments he'll be the next Mathysse......hyped to the hilt until people realise you need a bit of finesse/technique to be consistent at top level.

Kell Brook is a dangerous live opponent for anyone at the weight due to his hand/foot speed and power. Doesn't mean he'd be favourite or that I fancy him to win but there's VALUE there and he's definitely not a push-over for anyone.

No reasoning with reactionary newbies though.....

The thing is, we have seen this time and time again, a British fighter matched with easy fights without a needed gradual step up in class before finally taking on a strong opponent and then looking way out of his depth - most recently Cleverly and David Price are two examples. So you can forgive people being a bit sceptical about Brook's chances, you can't deny that his level of opposition to date has been disappointing.

Agreed. That said this "unstoppable beast" talk has to stop. It's embarrassing.

I don't and won't deny people can rightly be skeptical about Brooks chances, he certainly wouldn't be favourite (as I keep having to pump back at people on this forum). Be skeptical, all objective people with boxing knowledge would be.

Essentially saying anything other than "Porter runs through him" seems to be construed as "I'm a Brittard and I fink Kell wins".

Sure, Clev and Price are examples of what you say but lest you forget, Power Punching Price was VERY close to KO-ing Thompson and getting his world title shot!

Brook is pure VALUE at over 2-1 odds which judging by this forum he would be. That is all I'm saying. Also, this is not a good stylistic match-up for Porter either due to Kell's foot/hand speed and raw power.

Brook has been in with some decent fringe level guys, like Hatton, Jones and Senchenko. Although it's a big step up I don't think it's as big as some other boxers who go from beating bums straight to world level. I think he's as prepared for world level as anyone.

Good posts! :good Agree with them both.

I do not think Porter has been in with someone of Kell's power, but I don't think Kell has ever been in with someone of 1. Porter's class and skill and 2. Someone who will overwhelm and suffocate him with his constant pressure and power.

Don't think anything here is a given, as impressive as Porter was last night - I remember being very disappointed in his first fight vs Diaz. I thought he was overreaching way too often and many big punchers would have had him that night. He is young and more importantly, at least to me, he showed that he learnt from that night because he's been fantastic against Devon and Paulie.

I do agree that this all pans out based on how good Kell really is. We've seen too often recently where a British prospect has maneuvered his way into a big fight only to be torn apart by superior opposition. We will see this with Brian Rose when he takes on Andrade (hope to be proved wrong), but I don't think we should blame the fighter himself for that?

Based on what Kell has shown against his limited opposition, I really do think he has the power and punch variety to potentially cause problems to Porter. We'll see though.

In sport almost doesn't count, Price was found out massively. As for Brook, his physical attributes is one thing, but I wonder if this is going to be another rabbit in the headlight type of performance by a British fighter stepping up in class, just not sure how his defence will hold up.
