Porter, has 2 very good wins on his resume and looks to be good.

Porter vs Brook followed by Porter vs Bradley. If Porter wins against those 2, he would deserve a shot against Floyd.

Porter= A good fighter, potentially exceptional.

I'd pick Thurman, in a war.

Great fight. Both have good experience against eachother in sparing. Porter has said that he was brought into Thurman's camp early in Thurman's career because Thurmans trainers were trying to get Thurman to work on his boxing skills, which were not that well developed at that time. Porter said that the first couple of days that they worked together he got the better of Thurman but after a few days thurman started adapting and doing better. Porter said that Thurman is a much better boxer these days and that these days it'd be a 50:50 fight.

You can find that interview on Donte's boxing youtube channel shortly after the Alexander win.

Porter. Much faster. Just as strong. More accomplished as far as caliber of opposition. I think thurman is overrated. Don't see what he's done to deserve all the accolades he gets.

Paulie was a steamroll waiting to happen and Porter was the man to do it but that in no way makes him the next coming. Thurman tears his ass up. Paulie had nothing to prevent Porter from walking through his ass but Thurman can stop all the bull**** and make an honest man outa his ass. They are about to have a common opponent in Diaz, just watch how Thurman destroys his ass compared to Porter and you will start to understand the difference.

The Diaz fight is a bad styles match up to use as a gauge for a Porter Thurman match up. The better fight to gauge will be the Kell Brook fight (if it happens). Kell is a large WW with fast hands and good power. He`s similar in size and power to thurman but probably isn`t as tough or defensively durable. I porter can handle him with easy then that is a bad sign for Thurman. If porter has difficulty then the fight with Thurman could go eitherway.

I get this a bit too.

Have seen a few performances of Keith and although I have been impressed, I think he's way too over-hyped on here when the likes of Kell Brook (I know someone will pick on me for this) will get criticised for fighting and impressively beating nobodys. Don't know how that works.

Besides, I'm surprised that a lot of people on here turn a blind eye to the few obvious holes in Thurman's performance against that Diego Chaves. Not undermining how well he finished him off though when he did get the stoppage.

Either way, not sure how either, Porter or Thurman would deal with a flush shot from one another. I can't decide yet whether Porter's work rate would overwhelm and eventually get to Thurman or if Thurman's bombs would simply demolish Porter. I've seen enough from both to know they can both be easily hit-able. I really like this fight.

The thing about professional prize fighting is that a fighter has to have the right combination of skill, durability, stamina and mental fortitude to become a champion. A guy like Kell Brook looks like a Maserati when he`s rolling but other then one gut check perfromance we haven`t seen much out of him. In that perfromance he showed weaknesses in mental concentration and stamina. That was a little concerning. In the Chavez fight Thurman was losing on some people`s score cards but he showed he has a great chin, good stamina and the mental fortitude to win the close fights. The fact that he defense wasn`t great and his boxing was challenged by a good pressure fighter should be noted but that is only part of what makes a fighter champion. Taking the good with the bad it was an impressive performance IMO

The Kell Brook fight might not even happen. I'm talking about a fight that is definite. Diaz is the same fighter and he's gonna bring the same fight to Thurman that he brought to Porter. As a matter of fact, Thurman and Porter are the same height. Thurman had fought at 154 and Porter as high as 160. What sets them apart is their individual styles and I just happen to think that Thurman's style and his mastery of it at this point will allow him to neutralize those bull rushes and leaping left hooks of Porter. His power will keep Porter honest and his style will prevail.

Put either of them in with either Charlo n see what happens. I see both thurman and porter as slight hype jobs. Thurman a little more so. Hear tons of talk about them n no one mentions Charlos. A division up but Thurman's been at 154 already I believe. One look at the Charlo brothers n both the guys getting all this talk look amateurish.

The obvious thing is that Porter resume is way better at this time. I feel that Porter is the more solid and proven fighter.

I hear you on that but right now we talking about 147. The Charlo twins are a different subject and a different division. I've been kicking their names out on this forum for at least a year but everybody playing dead. Out of the two, I like Jermell's fight game a little better than Jermall's. Porter and Thurman is a good fit at 147 for now because they are both only 5'7".
