if you think B-Hop was 95 prime you probably have not been watching boxing over 6 years. Stopped reading after that. Hopkins easily ranks higher than Calzaghe in the all time ranking. Hopkins easily cracks the top 100 while Calzaghe will never sniff the top 100.
bernard's backyard is in philly not las vegas. the environment was so pro-calzaghe it was ridiculous. i was at the fight. probably the worst main event i've ever seen live. joe was closer to his prime becuase he fought nobodies for years. it's easy to keep going when you're clearly better than everyone you fight for years and don't take much punishment. no athlete is in their prime at 43, especially in boxing.
i had it one win apiece in the Taylor fights. Hopkins by one point. Taylor by two points in the other fight. Calzaghe beat Hopkins by two points on my card.
Then that black judge was being a racist *****.....cause a blind philipino could tell Calzaghe won that fight
the ref was Puerto Rican, not American. but yes, he was put there to help Bernard win the fight and rip Joe off just as he did a week earlier with Hatton. both Hopkins and Joe were past prime. i had Joe just slightly more past best because of the constant injuries he had throughout his career. but to be honest, it's neither here nor there when arguing the topic.
- Associated Press, Yahoo, and ESPN scored the bout 114-113 for Hopkins. just look at joe's reaction when the scores were announced. not very confident. it was a close crappy fight. i had joe winning 116-113 but it's not hard to see (unless you're a brit) someone having it the other way.
Hmm that is pretty surprising if it is true. IMO it was close because of point deduction and the knock down.
if you're trying to claim that Joe wasn't an all time elite based on the Hopkins performance, then no one is elite because of how they performed with certain fighters. and most not anywhere near the level of Bernard. Hopkins did have a bad style for Joe at that point in time for him, no doubt. but he came through like a real champ does. one bad, but winning performance, doesn't crash an entire career down at all. every fighter has one or more bad nights. and most don't come out with the win like Joe did.
but the right man got the decision??? the vast majority of fans called it to Joe. it's only as time has gone on that People are trying to rip the win off by claiming robbery. the Americans especially are pissing on Joe at every turn. so saying it was a robbery, is just another way to suit their agenda.
I call BS on that. Regardless, look at all of the boxing websites and polls who you thought won. I noticed you are bringing up race a lot, do you have a chip on your shoulder? Leave it alone man. The point of this thread was to talk about revisionist history, not bring up excuses why Hopkins was out-thrown by 200+ and out-landed by 100+
Joe is clearly in the top 100. all you have to do is read some people's lists to see the most overrated fighters in history claiming high spots that they don't deserve. Joe H2H, as well as resume, is much more proven than they are. :deal
