Sadly, after reading more about the case and Carter himself, I'm not sold on his innocence.

It does look like he was innocent of the crime convicted but lets be honest. As pointed out in this thread he was not a good guy. He was prone to violence and used to brutally beat/mug people not so much for financial gain but for sport. He prowess as a pro fighter was also greatly overexaggerated such as his character by an agenda driven media that put a bunch of money in this scumbag's pocket.

Forgive me if I do not weep over such a human. In fact, I can only hope he is getting paid back in his next life for all the horror and misery he brought upon those unfortunate enough to encounter him in his previous life.

    Sad news.

Ruben "Hurricane" Carter was not a great fighter, but he was a decent one, in a tough era. But he was a much greater man, and a symbol of victory over the racist U.S. INjustice system - which locks up people of color and other oppressed individuals at an unconscionably high rate, often on bogus charges, or for things (like drug possession) that should be legal.

RIP Hurricane. Thanks for fighting the power. . .and winning! :good

R.I.P. Hurricane The injustice done to you was never & could never be repaid.. The clowns making nasty comments about Ruben should be ashamed of themselves. It took a brave man to forgive everyone that contributed to his wrongful imprisonment.
Someone made a claim, never substanciated actuallly, that Rubin assaulted a woman after being freed so he must be guilty. I wonder if that person ins a Floyd Mayweather fan? Floyd seems to get his jollies beating on women so he shouldnt be Right???

Glad the **** is dead, pity it wasn't a lot earlier and a lot of innocent people would not have crossed paths with the murdering, army record faking, thieving woman beater.

Read up on the innocence bull**** and recall of Carter's character in action before any feeling any sympathy.
