Calzaghe could never LEGITIMATELY beat Bernard Hopkins. He was awarded a gift just like Taylor was twice. At least Taylor had the balls to rematch Nard , Slappy chickened out
He shot the finger to his loyal Welsh fans when he turned down Nards offer to fight him in Wales..
    CALZAGHE SUFFERED FROM YELLOWSTREAKITIS
ONLYNTWO PEOPLE LEGITIMATELY BEAT HOPKINS THEY WERE Jones jr & Chad Dawson

:nono Uh-uh newbie. You weren't around then. Jay Larkin
showed us all who were watching boxing then, that Hopkins
accepted a deal that frank wawwen, calz promoter then, and
after team calz accepted it, hops then changed it at the last
hour doubling the original offer. Deliberately pricing himself out
of the fight. That was in 2001 after the Tito fight. You just
    learned something about boxing boy.

Accepted? Where is the signed contract? And I never fault a top pound for pound fighter for wanting more, if a contemporary who isn't over him is getting more.

No mention that it was a 3 fight deal with Showtime, and not just Calzaghe, that Hopkins turned down? As he was apparently in pursuit of a fight with DLH.

Also adds to Clinton Mitchell's legacy.

Just like every Duran win also added to Kirkland Lang's legacy.

The only top tier fighter Hopkins has faced since his loss to Calzaghe is Chad Dawson, and Hopkins lost easily to him, so I dont see where Hopkins beating 3rd tier opposition enhances Calzaghe's legacy.

Calzhage's corner said that because they were afraid to get robbed.

    Saying they needed the KO.

Calzaghe had the nerve to come to Hopkins' turf and outbox him, easily, made a fool out of him. Taylor beat Hopkins, Jones, Dawson easily beat Hopkins. Shumenov had no trainer, had never had boxing lessons, just self trained himself, watched Bruce Lee.............Kovalev or Stevenson would have knocked Shumenov out in the first round......................now Stevenson has ran from Kovalev and Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev while Kovalev was Hopkins' mandatory. He sure as hell would not have ducked Hopkins, and easy win..............

He Cacharias over there. Wouldn't surprise me if he created alts there to agree with himself as he does here and on other forums though. Poor guy has WAY to much time on his hands. He really needs to move out of his moms house and find a job and a girlfriend. Real talk!

He had to fight Veit twice or be stripped. Veit had gone on to win an interim title after beating world rated C Brewer and would have been awarded full champ status if Calzaghe didnt go to Germany to beat him. Still Veit was a top 10 SMW with a world title and has a better resume than many of the current top 10.
As for sobot, he was a sub for undefeated Salmaci, but had only had one loss, a SD over a fighter who had taken a SMW champ to a SD and went on to beat K Holmes and take his MW title

Calzaghe clearly beat Hopkins and had Hopkins looking for time out. Nobody was calling for that again straight after, also Hopkins backed out of facing Calzaghe years previously. I think he shot the finger to Hopkins in that he went up in weight, over to America with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref and had Hopkins looking for time out

    Thanks.

You would look better just accepting that you were wrong and that I was right. Its a lesson for you :hi:

Hopkins has beaten some of the top fighters in the division...it's just a weak division.

I do think what Hopkins has done and continues to do is amazing, but it is also unfortunately a reflection on the overall talent pool today.

Yes.....I remember when Hopkins beat Pavlik, it seemed like Calzaghe's fans were happier than Hopkins's fans.
