Porter's name simply isn't big enough right now kinda like Thurman. Down the line if he keeps wining I could see it happening.

 

If it was all about name recognition, Amir Khan would've had the opportunity over Maidana.

Floyd might not make the best fights all the time, but he's a fan of the sport himself, and I don't see him fighting Khan without Khan EARNING it.

 

I'll say this about Floyd, I can't remember the last time he took a fight that didn't make sense. Fighting Khan makes little sense with Porter out there. I'm not sure Khan will be available anyway, but even if he is, Mayweather fighting him in September would be a head scratcher.

A Porter fight would be dangerous for Khan.

 

Porter is clearly more worthy than Khan at this point. Khan must have been gutted when Porter KO'ed Malignaggi he's even further from a Mayweather fight than before. He must be kicking himself for not fighting Alexander instead of Porter as well.

 

Maidana has a big win over Broner so people know who he is. He's also been in fights with Ortiz Alexander and Khan. No one really knows anything about Porter. He needs a fight that will turn casuals on to him like Maidana did with Broner.

 

I'd have to agree. I'm almost 100% certain that Mayweather reads these message boards, along with many other boxing cites. Nobody outside of the UK has much interest in seeing him figh Khan right now.

 

Or, he would've been even more washed up, had Devon smashed his glass jaw to smithereens.

 

El Cabdrivero strikes again!. It's still too early to cash out Porter against Mayweather, he has a bright promising future if he continues to fight others rather than cashing out against Mayweather. At this stage, Porter would lose badly to Mayweather. I'd rather see Mayweather fight another hopeless joke opponent in Khan than possibly ruining Porter's career.
