Canelo had a 15+lb advantage and did nothing with it. Didnt try to cut off the ring, didnt bully floyd and spent long stretches of the fight just standing and not throwing anything even when floyd wasnt attacking. I thought that fight was a microcosm of what makes floyd appear great. find a flat footed fighter, with average hand speed and just run circles around him. Floyd stayed in the pocket because he could see Canelos punches coming and if he saw anything he didnt like he simply moved away knowing canelos feet were to slow to keep up. Same formula we`ll see on may 3rd and basically the same formula we`ve seen since `07.
If you wonder why floyd looks so great go watch thompson vs Ryan Coyne. Thompson an average fighter at best using the shoulder roll defense against a flat footed slow handed opponent looked like he was a world beater. Coyne landed 18% of his punches and it was complete domination. Floyds defense is tailor made for flat footed fighters.

Canelo sucks. No elite fighter gets dominated like that by a past prime overrated fighter.

I was not the least bit surprised.

I've never been impressed with Canelo and Mayweather is a great fighter, one of the few fighters today that has all the fundamentals and boxing "know-how" down. Then he also has top-notch speed & athleticism.

Yeah. Unlike a lot of people, this was a fight I was very interested in and thought Canelo had a chance to win. Mayweather gave him NOTHING. I actually had a few rounds to Canelo because of Mayweather's slow work rate in the fight, but even at that Canelo landed at best a few jabs to his chest.

Maybe the best defensive performance from May to date. As Canelo said at the end "I just couldn't hit him".
