How would Quigg fare against Santa Cruz?

Well - if indeed that is the case, it is in his interest to fight Salinas again and set the record straight, no?

Also where the hell IS Salinas. We've heard nothing from him since?
Anybody know where/why he is hiding????

 

When people say that it showed nothing the weekend. He showed against a tough operator who beat two British fighters in three bouts. I agree Munyani is not world level but defiantly was a banana skin but Quigg destroyed him with some great shots. As for not fighting anyone he fought Salinas who in my opinion would beat Kiko Martinez. Both Frampton and Quigg would beat Santa Cruz in my opinion.

 

To be realistic the odds were always in Quiggs favour here BZ. Munyani is not world class and he would have been hopelessly weakened making the weight at a weeks notice. He made Quigg look good if anything.
I need to see Quigg in against a tricky customer like a rematch with Salinas of versus Kid Galahad.

 

Is that the best you can do? He fought those guys AFTER losing to Frampton.

Quigg has yet to fight a dangerous puncher so a fight with either Kiko or Frampton would see if Quigg can handle powerful punchers. Until Quigg steps in with either the question mark of Quiggs chin remains. Can Quigg take a fully blooded shot from either?? I think Hearn has moved Quigg along well. But the big question is who would Eddie like to be promoting more Quigg or Frampton?? Quiggs a likeable lad but is he a big ticket seller?? I think if there wasnt the Murray v Crolla fight on then Matchroom would of found it hard to sell the tickets for Quiggs fight.

 

Absolutely no doubt Frampton is a much bigger ticket seller. Does he do the numbers for TV viewing? Absolutely not. Does Quigg at this stage? Probably not either.

That said, Quigg's got the platform for his popularity to go through the roof with Sky behind whereas McGuigan is banking on Frampton continuing to win and the US taking to him as BoxNation is not capable of building a star.

I honestly think Carl will end up regretting Barry's greed.

 

I agree was a strange decision to move away from Sky to Boxnation and had put Carl back a few steps if Carl would of stayed by now Carl would be World Champion. Saying that I still think Carl will become World Champion and will be back on Sky when his deal with Boxnation is up or with whoever be it BT if they go into boxing. Just dont see him resigning with Boxnation only if they offer him silly money.

 

Its not what some offer that matters its what you get paid into your bank account, ask Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Burns, Tony Bellew amongst others

 

Salinas is levels above Galahad. And at the mid week weigh in quigg and munyai were apparently 3 lbs over so I'm not sure your argument about making weight is valid as that would imply they both struggled

 

In fairness it is very unlikely Munyai was walking around at a few pounds over when he got the call to fight Quigg???

The only fighter I can think of who might be like that is Rigo.

Also Im not sure Salinas IS "levels above Galahad" as you say.....what are you basing that on?
Salinas has been invisible since the Quigg fight - if he is so good why not move him on with some fights?

In the Quigg fight Salinas showcased an excellent jab - thats about all he did in that fight.
Galahad is moving ahead all the time and seems more well rounded than Salinas to me.

 

I don't know why salinas is being left to stagnate, possibly due to the fact he is an awkward opponent who brings nothing to the table. I'm guessing that's why frampton turned him down, unless frampton wanted to go the WBA route and improve his ranking the fight would do nothing for him. Salinas is proven, Galahad isn't that's what I'm basing it on( salinas has a very good record as an amateur where as Galahad has proven nothing yet as an am or a pro)

 

In regard to munyais weight, all I'm saying is at the weight check midweek he weighed the same as quigg did so it's not like he lost a stone in the last few days

Yeah, whereas we can read a lot into Frampton beating a super flyweight...

Or perhaps we should be stunned by him beating Kiko...except Rendall Munroe beat him TWICE.

 

Are people forgeting Quigg didn't beat Salinas, it was a draw why are people going on like Quigg won that? Are we saying his best result is a draw against a contender.
