List them here, an active fighter, the fight that has seen them become underrated, why that fight has left them underrated.

Fighter:
Carl Froch
The Fight: Carl Froch TKO9 George Groves
Why that fight has left the fighter underrated: Froch has been on a gauntlet of fights like next to nobody in boxing prior to this fight. He started slow, but took some huge shots and stayed in the fight in the first few rounds. While he was losing the fight, the commentary from Jim Watt was some of the most stupidly bias I've ever heard and Groves wasn't manhandling Froch as easy as it seemed. Froch started coming on and began to take over shortly after the half way point of the fight and started walking through Groves best shots. Had Groves hurt bad at the time of the stoppage which was early, but it was the referee who decided to end the fight. Groves still had 3 and a half rounds left to survive against a man who, as this thread shows: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=405072 most rate highly as a finisher and Froch could very well scored a legit stoppage.

Fighter: Robert Guerrero
The Fight: Floyd Mayweather UD12 Robert Guerrero
Why that fight has left the fighter underrated: Because his opponent was Floyd freaking Mayweather first of all. And it's reasonable to suggest he did better than Canelo did and almost certainly will do better than Maidana will. Had also jumped up two weight divisions, after more than a year out with injury and beat two lower top 10 fighters. As recent hype job Broner proved, that requires skill rather than hype.

Fighter: Abner Mares
The Fight: Jhonny Gonzalez KO1 Abner Mares
Why that fight has left the fighter underrated: Mares, like Froch had been on a murderous row run across 3 weight division and was still undefeated leading into this fight. Gonzalez is a huge puncher and it was his power, rather than Mares glass chin or lack of ability than lead to him being stopped. Still an elite fighter who shouldn't have dropped so far down out of pound for pound discussions he's not even on honorable mentions, despite the upset.

Fighter: Kell Brook
The Fight: Kell Brook MD12 Carson Jones
Why that fight has left the fighter underrated: Brook detractors believe this is the blueprint to proving Kell Brook is not that good. First of all Jones is underrated and despite his losses he came into the fight on a good run, with his losses coming early in his career. Secondly Brook was winning handily before an accidental clash of heads left him with a badly broken nose leaving him swallowing a lot of blood and unable to breath properly. Panic set in, in Brooks corner as they had no clue how to deal with it but Brook gutted it out and came on strong in the closing stages to show a lot of heart to get him over the line. He passed a big gut check. Brook rematched Jones shortly after and gave a firm indication of one the gap actually is between the two fighters- something a guy like Porter failed to do a rematch with Julio Diaz.

Danny Garcia. Continues to prove people wrong, although his last outing showed flaws in his game.

Good read that.

I'd add Amir Khan to the list too.

Yep. Although I never thought him as a top top guy and thought the pound for pound top 10 appearances he was making was premature, Herrera was a bad style match and I think Garcia was under-motivated.

He's is underrated for sure, but I think it's not just down to one recent performance from him and he's somewhat regressed since leaving Roach.

Agreed. Im not sure what it is about him. If anyone else had beaten Khan and Matthysse as an underdog, they would be hyped up to the gills. But he still has doubts hovering above his head and that Herrera fight confirmed it. I think he can still make a big impact but i think he will be carefully matched now. Avoiding technically superior boxers like JMM. OR now that he and his team have seen he can be beaten, he will try and cash out on a Mayweather fight knowing that they might not stay undefeated if he waits it out

Add Daniel Geale.

Geale had won separate world titles in Germany and was 29-1 (and had avenged that loss) prior to losing to Darren Barker.

Has his chance to redeem himself shortly against Mathew Macklin.

Brandon Rios is very one dimensional, and has gatekeeper potential at best in my opinion. Any boxer with good movement will always beat him.

To answer the thread, I haven't heard anything from the Matthyse fan boys since Garcia beat him. Before they were everywhere, so maybe he is underrated now.

I was actually gonna add him in the OP but decided against it because he failed his drug test.

However to argue that the Maidana that beat Broner, is head and shoulders above the Rios that lost to Pacquiao is wrong IMO. There isn't much in it, Broner was just massively overrated and the decline of Pacquiao had been more exaggerated than it actually was. As he proved against Bradley.
