Once again, everybody has a different set of circumstances surrounding them.

You can't compare Roy's circumstances in the late 90's/early 00's, to someone like Fitz's circumstances in the late 1800's/early 1900's. :patsch

We don't even know if Fitz would have fought at HW had there been 17 weight classes etc.

    You've summed him up perfectly.

I followed RJJ from his early beginnings in the boxing game and thought he was the next SRR because of his mad skills which were above anyone else during those years. His defeat in the Olympics was a big let down for anyone who was following Roy at that time because we all wanted him to bring home the gold like Oscar did. RJJ in my eyes was like Holmes in the HWs a victim of the times and competition around. However, I will always say that he should had fought Dariusz Michalczewski, for what ever reason the fight never happened but it would had a been a great one in my eyes.

    No doubt.

I wonder what he thinks about Roy's chin and John Ruiz?

Seeing as though he's never mentioned anything, maybe we should ask him?

    Good post.

It's a crying shame that Roy and Dariusz never fought. It didn't happen because both guys have big egos, and neither of them were willing to travel.

I think there was a time when Roy was ready to beat his ass, but Kohl openly admitted to not answering Roy's calls and had other plans to fight some bum on DM's birthday or something.

Yep, I think Roy would definitely have fought him in America.

But it's easy to see why it never happened.

Roy had all of the belts and was considered the best fighter on the planet. He said that he didn't feel as though he should have been the one to go to Germany. (which I agree with)

Then you'd got Dariusz, who was sitting pretty in Germany, making good money defending the WBO. Why would he have risked fighting Roy?

I always thought that someone would have come up with the idea of fighting in a neutral venue. But I'm not sure if Roy would have been open to it.

    Ha! I'd forgotten about Joe.

I wonder where him and Foxy have got to?

    What a pair.

Did you see who DM was fighting? He never had any intentions of keeping those belts and would have been stripped anyway.
