I'm surprised by the results so far.

    I have Louis #1.

Having 25 straight title defenses (5 more than the second most champion) and only losing 3 times within 70 fights is pretty amazing.

I consider Muhammad Ali 1A and Joe Louis 1B.

Then everyone else is a notch below. These two are the cream of the crop in heavyweight history. In many ways they made the title what it became.

I wouldnt argue too much with someone who put Joe Louis on top as he has a strong case as well. Louis was so consistant and he held the title for a long time.

I give Ali an edge because he faced the tougher opp. while also defending the title successfully 20 times. Though some were questionable decisions. His wins over Foreman and Joe Frazier in Manila confirmed him at #1 IMO. Ali couldve and probably shoudve retired after this. Nothing he did later helped his legacy.

Very true, although Louis spending a few years in military service during what was more or less his prime as well should be noted.

Nice effort. Ali's wins over Liston, Foreman and Frazier allow him to pip Joe for me. I also have Ali H2H in what would have been one of the great matchups of all time.

Great Heavyweights don't get KTFO by the likes of Danny Williams, and Kevin McBride.

he qualifies as the one of if not the best becuz #1) He ducked no one even at an advanced age when he should have and 2) has a more impressive resume than Dempsey, Marciano, Frazier, Louis and pretty much anyone else I can think of

was named 1972's fighter of the year along with Monzon but had no title

this is what i've een saying. Ali was the personality of all personalities

Lewis? both him and his reign were quite drab and will go down as a forgettable champion
