that means Ray Leonard got whipped by a jr feather

it seems that no matter how hard Ray Leonard tries to impress, something always takes the edge off his victories

historically Duran is known as a lightweight, even as Leonard is listed & known as a welterweight

why are u trying to make Duran into something he's not?

It's really quite simple why him and Al Francis are trying to make Duran something he is / was not. Because they are fvcking morons.

    FACT.

Duran had had NO MORE than 8 fights at WELTERWEIGHT out of 72 when he beat the UNDEFEATED WELTERWEIGHT Leonard.

What imbeciles, and vermin like McVey think is of no consequence whatsoever.

Are there any limits to the level of your stupidity? By your imbecilic logic the 2 WELTERWEIGHT fights between Duran, and Leonard in 1980 didn't actually occur.:roll::roll:

How about the Palomino fight in June 79? Lets try the Jimmy Heair fight 2 months earlier?

Someone really ought to explain the golden rule of holes to you. When you are in one, stop fvcking digging.

Get it in your thick skull. Duran was a career Lightweight when he defeated Leonard.

Get your calculator out and try to do the maths yourself. From his debut how many fights had Roberto had where he weighed 135 or less, out of the 72 PRIOR to facing Leonard?

sometimes, they dont realize what they're saying

for instance, I thought Duran started at close to 135. Then Mcvey comes along and tells me "no, he wasnt a career lightweight, he started as a junior featherweight"

that means he probably maxed out at 135, so any further weight added meant that he was putting on a greater % than what his frame could naturally carry

which makes him less of a welterweight than previously thought and any successes above 135 makes them that more remarkable than say, a rise in weight from 147 to 157 (Leonard) since a much smaller % weight is added

In other words, Duran is a guy who really had just six fights at 147. So my question is, how a win over a newcomer to the welterweight ranks make Leonard the #2 welterweight of all time?

I'd say wins over Benitez, a skilled welterweight (but not supremely skilled) helps, but nowhere near #2 just under Robinson

Are you fvcking stupid? You're arguing with me that Duran wasn't a welterweight when he fought Leonard but have used in your argument as a FACT that Duran had 8 fights at WELTERWEIGHT. This being at the time he fought Leonard.
You've used the expression CAREER lightweight on a couple of occasions. My understanding of CAREER lightweight is someone who boxes at or about lightweight throughout their career from start to finish. An example of a career middleweight for example would be Carlos Monzon who boxed in or around the middleweight career throughout his whole career.
Duran didn't have those 8 welterweight fights and then move back down to lightweight he actually moved up in weight because he couldn't make welterweight any more let alone lightweight.

'Im not trying to make Duran into anything, its you and your Mate Poxy referring to him as," a career light weight," in a silly attempt to disparage Leonard that I take issue with.

119 FIGHTS, 19 INSIDE THE LIGHTWEIGHT LIMITS THOSE ARE THE FACTS.
THE VAST MAJORITY OF DURAN'S CAREER HAS BEEN FOUGHT IN WEIGHT CLASSES ABOVE LIGHTWEIGHT .
DURAN SPENT JUST OVER SEVEN YEARS AS A LIGHTWEIGHT.FACT

DURAN SPENT OVER TWENTY THREE YEARS IN WEIGHT DIVISIONS ABOVE THAT.FACT
WINNING FOUR VERSIONS OF TITLES FROM WELTER TO MIDDLEWEIGHT.FACT

Box rec lists Duran as a lightweight, it also lists his second fight against Leonard as a tko win for Leonard ,and does the same for Benitez's fight with Leonard.:good
You cannot cherry pick which info you ACCEPT, just to suit your hate agenda.

As good as Mayweather is,can you imagine him beating a Hearns or Benitez as emphatically as Leonard did ? At 140 lbs upwards the best man on Floyd's record was Ricky Hatton.

    You are welcome McFAY.

Your opinions are of no importance to me as is your existence. You are no more than something I might wipe off the bottom of my shoe. If it hurts your fragile little girlie ego that Duran was described as a career Lightweight at the time he defeated Leonard, I really couldn't give a fvck. The same applies to the idiot Al Francis.

I wouldn't expect a moron like you to truthfully answer the simple question, designed specifically for a simpleton such as yourself, but rest assured it is well known exactly how many of his 72 fights prior to beating Leonard, Roberto weighed 135 or less, as opposed to more than 135.

Keep wriggling you pathetic little worm.

    Bye bye FAY.:hi:

You need to try and improve your debating skills instead of resorting to name calling and acting like a spoilt brat when someone doesn't share your opinions, we're all grown ups on here, most of that us. Do you talk to people like that in real life or is just on here that you come across as the village idiot? Do yourself a favour and try and work on your social skills, you might find people will take you a bit more serious.
