Fights That People Remember Incorrectly

cunningham was ahead at the time of the stoppage. fury was still stumling around like adrunken sailor for two rounds after the knockdown. fury won by laying on him, wearing him down.

Calzaghe-Hopkins

People thinking Nard was robbed and only lost because of his "white boy" comments. Discounting the fact that he was outthrown by 200+ and I believe outlanded by 100+. And the fact that he took multiple deliberate dives.

 

Briggs-Foreman: This fight is made out by some to be one of the great robberies of our time or something like that. Not coincidentally, there are lots of Foreman fans and few Briggs fans. The fight could've gone either way, maybe should've gone to Foreman, but it wasn't even close to an all-time bad scorecard. Much of Briggs' problem with how he was perceived in this fight is that he looked really tired. His activity level was about the same as Foreman's though, it's just that Foreman was operating out of his slow-plod comfort zone.

Naz-Barerra--This one gets a rep for being an all-time schooling. Naz lost by something like 4-8 and could've turned the tide if he were more active in a few rounds. He wasn't in top form, either.

 

One more is Mosley against Mayweather: People blow the second round way out of proportion, going so far as to use it as fuel for a "Prime Mosley finishes Mayweather" argument. The truth is, Mayweather was caught with two clean punches, which was shocking at the time because of how rarely he gets caught, but he wasn't in serious trouble. He recovered from each shot quickly and went on to dominate the last minute of the round and the remainder of the fight.

when I first saw the fight, being a huge Manny fan, I thought the first four rounds were even or even early could be Cotto's. I was nervous and scared for Manny. When I rewatched the fight recently, I saw Pac beating him to the punch, laying on the ropes, and taking his shots easily. While not an "easy" fight for Pac, it was way more of a destruction than I remembered.

 

i dont see how he could have been out from the first 1-2....his hands came back up....and that jab-right hand didnt look like enough to do it

 

Bumping this because I have a feeling both Stiverne-Arreola fights will merit inclusion, especially when Chris starts his next comeback. I was already annoyed at how many people wanted to act like he was dominating the first fight before the KD, and I'll be equally bothered when people pretend he was completely control of this one. Neither were simply cases of him being caught, but that's what we'll be told (along with Chris being more dedicated to staying in shape! For real this time!) when his next fight is being promoted.

 

his cheerleading during khan/garcia was pretty bad too. "i declared the fight over...but since then, khan has taken over!!!"

wtf was he watching???

 

cotto/clottey clottey had his moments but in the championship rounds, he stopped throwing and was outworked.

this is the only fight i have seen that people give credit to a headbutt
