Did Alex Leapai hurt Wlad Klitschko more than Haye did?

To be "competitive" you have to win rounds and Haye won a maximum of 2 and in reality probably 0.

Vlad did not pick Leapai and his mandatory, the WBO did, Vlad had to fight him, he had no choice. At least Leapai earned his ranking, unlike Wilder who has never fought anyone even nearly ranked. I have HD 60" screen, the fight was in HD, recored it on my DVR, Vlad was never hurt by Leapai, as a matter of fact, I did not see Leapai land anything..................Vlad was never hurt at all, easy fight for him. At least Leapai tried, Haye did nothing but run, hold, fell down on the canvas over and over, held on to Vlad's legs, etc..................

That any org would make this guy their number one contender just shows what dire straights the heavyweight division is in.

I thought the brother's introduction with the conch was entertaining and seemed to get Alex really revved up while intimidating Wlad.

Leapai didn't land a single shot to the head. The wild right hand in the 5th didn't land. I have just re-watched the fight and I only counted 7 punches landing from Leapai, none to the head.

In the first Leapai landed to cuffing rights to Wlad's back while in a clinch, technically not legal blows.

Leapai landed no punches in the 2nd round that I could see. The other 5 shots I saw landing were 2 jabs to the stomach, a jab to the chest, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the chest that I don't think landed cleanly.

Suffice to say other than Mormeck, Leapai was the worst opponent we have seen Wlad defend his title against. Horrible, horrible mismatch.

Leapai had Wlad in all sorts of trouble.
I thought it was going to be the Lamon Brewster fight all over again, but Wlad pulled through this time. Close call. Tough fight. I think next time Wlad should choose someone a little easier.

Wlad tripped over his own feet.
Wlad could fight Briggs after the fight if he wanted to.
Leapai was the worst contender for a heavyweight champion since Mormeck.

I guess it's hope born out of frustration that no current HW even comes close to having a chance against Wlad triggers things like this.

Haye landed one good shot in 12 rounds, and it was better as everything Leapai could come up with (it clearly was a trip). But performance wise Haye's still bottom of the barrell kind material, not even trying to win but hoping on some incompetent ref DQing Wlad for "pushing" him down.

Haye would TKO1 Leapai, Harrison would TKO3 Leapai... Heck even McDermott would TKO9 him.

What's your problem with British fighters.

When you're that Wlad-bias it really stands out.

I have no problem with British fighters at all.
Was a big fan of LL, Hide, Bruno, Pyatt, both Benn and Eubank (SR!), and still a fan of Froch, Afolabi and Macklin.
What I don't like is the British fighters that are hyped into something they're clearly not. Haye was never really "exciting" and/or the 2nd coming at HW, but was very annoying and massively overhyped.
If someone can't see Fury's flaws he's obviously blind and yet he gets hyped by some as the one to end Wlad's reign. And there are many other examples on this.

My biggest beef was with Haye indeed, because if you put on 3 stinkers in 4 titlefights how in Zeus' name can anyone call that man exciting?!
And then him going off about the champ fighting bums while he fights Audley and a shot to **** Ruiz.

If you look for it you can see that I have both positive and negative post for fighters from ANY nationality. I don't discriminate. Some suck, some don't, some are amazing. And if you think I'm all on Wlad's nutsack you should read some of the comments I've made about his prior fight against Povetkin, just to keep things in perspective :good

What Vlad does in my opinion is use his advantages and considerable skills to the max which make opponents look worse than they often are.

Having said that, Leapai was VERY poor last night - dare I say it, almost 'Audley Harrison bad'

I'm gonna go and watch the Lewis vs Briggs fight now for some action....

Yes. The fight should have been stopped right there and then by the ref but the ref was paid off by Chef.
