Guy hit the nail on the head. It is because they are white. The HW division is the glamour division. A white man dominating other divisions doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. first 4 rounds last night were jab jab jab jab jab jab but when he got hit in the fifth you could see a change and actually went to win.
If only wlad had more kill and went out from the start to finish it but he has to constantly worry about burning out if he can not get them out of the ring.

 

Who needs an inside game when you are so dominant on the outside.
Wlad is so easy to beat get on the inside rough him up and land a nice right on his jaw and take the belts but if it is that easy how is nobody doing it.

 

Hard to beat him on the inside when he clinches so frequently to prevent any possible inside work and that's if you can even get on the inside.

No denying Wlad hasn't needed to learn to fight on the inside due to a combination of poor opposition and his clinching. But I stand by my original post he isn't a complete fighter, but then very few are, even among the greats.

 

As a fighter you need to fight to your strengths and nullify your weaknesses. This is what wlad does.
Is it exciting to watch? No
Is it effective ? Yes
Wlad is as good a fighter as he can be with the attributes he has and 10 years unbeaten deserves some respect.

The brothers, to no fault of their own, are just fighting in the most diluted version of the HW division in probably the history of the sport.

Now they're in a very weird situation because they can only fight the guys in their division. They don't have the luxury that smaller fighters have where guys like Manny or FLoyd can jump up in weight classes and challenge themselves against other top-tier fighters. They're naturally large men and it's not like they can cut down in weight to fight at CW or LHW.

But there's absolutely no one on Wladimir's resume that would be considered a great fighter. His best win (biggest name)was probably against Sam Peter, a good HW but nothing overly special. He's in the middle of a great 8 year dominating run, but he just doesn't have any marquee wins over anyone of note.

They don't have any HOF fighters on their resume except for Vitali's loss to Lennox Lewis. Once again, it's no fault of their own, they've both fought pretty much everyone in the top 10 of their division. They're just unfortunately fighting in a period where their only competition is against average HW's at best.

They're both very good fighters and are on their way to becoming 1st ballot HOF'ers, but boxing pundits and historians aren't going to look too favorably on either of them when comparing them with the great HW champs of the past since neither Klit has any victories over other great fighters. VItali had his chance against a well past his prime Lennox, but that cut he suffered ended any chances to finally get at least one victory on his resume against a HOF HW.

Even though this era of HW is very weak, I still give Wlad a lot of credit. His loss to Sanders could have destroyed him mentally, but it didn't.

To give him NO credit is simply unfair.

To call him an ATG/best ever like some morons here do, is a slap in the face to the true ATG's.
