You mean the other fake Molina. :deal

John Molina isn't the first John Molina to box - hell, not the only John Molina to have boxed at lightweight. His predecessor - commonly known as "John John Molina" (which this Molina has actually taken as his ring name, confusingly) - was actually quite a bit more famous than he is now, was a 2x super featherweight champion and fought the likes of DLH and SSM.

In both cases, size was proven to not really matter (when faced with greater skill). :deal

you are right but jus sayin

broner must be counting his lucky stars that he picked the right molina as a tune up fight... i don't think anyone knew what john molina was going to bring to the table... everyone expected lucas to blow him away

im sure broner would have accepted the fight right away had it been offered to him because he would have saw that molina got tkod to demarco and broner stopped demarco... im now pissed that we may have missed out on broner getting another beating

Yeah, he looked much larger than Mathysee.

I knew he'd be the taller fighter, he's listed at 5-11 but also as a LW....

But he's fought at LWW and WW in 11 of his 31 fights:huh

His punch resistance came into question in his loss to DeMarco b/c how hurt he was from the singular shot before the onslaught.

But to his credit, it was a BS stoppage, and he would have easily recovered had he simply taken a knee.
Little Am experience going up against a world level elite cost him that fight. His power woulda kept him in it had he just taken the knee.

At LWW, though, he seems to be less inclined to being hurt by singular shots, so draining was obviously an issue.
And as for his power coming with him to LWW.....well, a legit KD and several times hurting a rusty, but still iron chinned Lucas is proof that Molina is the goods at LWW, and will probably be a force at WW as well.

Too bad he's 31 and learning on the job. He's a tough warrior, and he proved his worth with big wins over Lundy and Bey, and great performances vs Lucas, Klimov, and Williams.

He might just be this generations Gatti......would love to see him vs Provodnikov or Alvarado or Rios.

He would beat Vargas IMO....too awkward and too strong for Vargas IMO.:think

Molina has skinny legs but wears big, baggy trunks. He's taller, obviously, but top-heavy.

Agree with the sentiment about Molina's chinny chin chin, but I wouldn't call DeMarco world level elite.

That being said, Molina looked like a giant in there. A giant in white face. Why was his face so pale as compared to the rest of his body?

iirc, Garcia looked noticeably bigger than Matthysee. Matthysee's going to have a very difficult time competing at 147.

Never saw the demarco fight but it sounds like he may have had trouble making weight and got caught cold. He looked taller to me but matt looked thicker in the lower body.

Molina doesn't use height or reach to his advantage so it didn't matter much.

No but it does explain him twice dropping the still iron-chinned Matthysse.

Molina was a gargantuan lightweight and still a big welter, and has, if nothing else, formidable power even when taking on welters.

Weight classes exist for a reason.
