I'm no Wlad fan but he would've destroyed Tyson and Holyfield in a 4x2min contest in 1996. ****, even when Tyson and Holyfield were at their best they'd lose in an amateur comp to amateur Wlad. Lewis would be 50/50.

if they were all amateurs at the time Wlad may have beaten them.

but would he have beaten Mike or Evander who were former undisputed heavyweight champs and Mike the current WBC World champ in the pro's at the time Wlad fought in the Olympics??

    i doubt it!

I'd loose a lot of respect for Wlad if he enterened the olympics. it shouldnt be allowed!

'Amateur' boxing isn't even called amateur boxing. You can fight and earn money in the WSB or APB and still fight in the olympics, which has already happened.

    Bingo. Well said.

Savon dropping and stopping a young Briggs, Tua, and Brewster should be discredited because he was older?? I think not.

I hope Wladimir competes in 2016 and knocks all the other Olympic hopefuls the f**k out. Wins gold in style at the age of 40! It would be pretty remarkable.

And the hate can FLOW through the haters on here:D:yep

The Cubans were amateur athletes. They had an unfair advantage to them being so much older than everyone else, but they were still amateur athletes. Wlad is a professional fighter. He's been a pro for almost 20 years and he completely dominates the HW division. He also already has a gold medal. I'm confused as to why he would want to compete in The Olympics.

Boxing doesn't have a multitude of platforms for amateurs to shine like basketball, baseball, and hockey. For boxing, the Olympics are the only way for an amateur to get any sort of leverage with their first pro contract. Allowing pros to compete in Olympic boxing, would effectively eliminate all the amateur athletes from competition. Either that would happen or only an occasional pro like Wlad would actually participate in the Olympics and destroy all the amateurs.

It looks like this will be a moot point anyway as The Ukrainian Boxing Federation has said that Wlad won't be able to participate.

1996 Holyfield and Tyson would've got comprehensively beaten by the 6'5 mobile Wlad at the time. There's only 4 rounds to keep away, in a style that Wlad would've been more used to, using gloves that make knockouts far less likely. Wlad won't win gold if he enters the Olympics now so I don't care. He's too used to fighting immobile B grade talents in the pros, taking his time over 12. He'll get outworked and outpointed by a younger up and comer from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan or Cuba.

I hope he does it. Wlad should keep dominating the division, then add another gold medal 20 years after the first just to show the young pups what's up. Win everything, drive haters crazier by the day. That's quality entertainment. :deal

Would Klitschko fans actually be proud of their guy pummeling some petrified, pimple faced 18 year old kid?

There's a bit of a difference between sending recycled amateurs back to the Olympics and seasoned professional world champions. I never liked the fact the Cubans and old Soviet states did this, putting grown men against boys, but at least they weren't pros. There is a difference.

Why not? They're proud of defences against the likes of Mormeck, Wach, Pianeta and Leapai, aren't they? :yep

Drive the haters crazy? They won't be using headgear in the Olympics anymore, and they will have a pro style scoring system. Why would anyone think it was an accomplishment for the HW champ to beat up amateur athletes in what would basically be a pro fight?

Absolutely. The younger and pimplier the better. Ideally, he can keep knocking out the squeaky voiced teen from The Simpsons for the gold.

It doesn't matter if it's an accomplishment worth bragging about. People will ***** and moan about it non-stop, and I'll find it amusing.

And when exactly did the WSB and APB come about?
