Canelo refuses WBA Title against Lara!

    BIG PROPS TO CANELO! They trying to make Canelo-Lara a title fight when everybody knows Mayweather unfied WBC and WBA Ring titles when he fought Canelo. Now WBA say Mayweather is there super champion so Canelo-Lara can fight for Regular title! Canelo refused because Mayweather is the champion, no if'sands or maybes!

    Canelo is everything good for boxing. This guy is gonna hold it down for the next 10-15 years. He takks on Trout when his promtion company said not too. he takes on the best fighter of his Era. Now hes taking on Lara which so many people say hes been scared or didnt have to because hes not a big draw! at 23 this kid is like Veteran to the max already. Im happy we have him in our great sport.

    when I read the thread title I thought "noooooo, goddamnit, he backed out of the fight?"

    much relieved. And yeah, it's a good move by the kid. Good that a fighter is standing up to the sanctioning bodies.

    Maybe its to do with him wanting the fight at middleweight instead, he did miss the weight against Angulo remember, maybe he can't make 154 no more.

    My initial thought too. Goldenboys middleweight belt holder looks like an obvious target. And Lara will risk his title and not come overweight. Got a bad feeling about this fight after hearing how Lara's been screwed with before. Maybe they'll get an undercrad with offensive type home fighters and keep the ring tiny, too.

    I recall Shaefer said in an interview something about "maybe a couple pounds above JMW."

    I'd guess it'll be at 157 pounds.

    Aren't they both fighting at a 155-156lbs catchweight?, technically that's a Middleweight fight so the WBA Junior Middleweight title can't be on the line regardless.

    When you have the belt you have to pay fees to hold the belt. So why pay fees for a bogus belt.

    the WBC like loyalty, If Canelo were to pick up the WBA without the WBC Canelo would be banished from mexico by the Jose Jr

    Alvarez has never had an issue picking up paper belts before. This is just a way of covering up for the fact that he can't make the limit anymore. Don't be surprised to see the catchweight rise to 156 or even 157 in the next month or so.
