Curry was seen as a real threat to Hagler, yet he was beaten by a guy I saw fight in London on many occasions and thought of as just European level
I agree ,it's the James Dean syndrome.
Sanchez like Dean will always be young. He may have gone on to fight Pedroza or Taylor and got beaten, then he would not be spoken of in the hushed tones he is today.

Even if that had happened, he'd still have a good argument at being greater than Pedroza.

I think both are often overestimated fighters btw.

What the f*ck is "slci", Elton? I'm not versed in your native tongue, so you'll have to translate that into English for me.

And don't pretend that you've actually seen this fight, you dumpy little ***. :patsch

why would I have to pretend if it was televised?

Bernard was just too slick for him. I was quite surprised that a prospect, even was as quality as Bernard, could so easily handle the more experienced Pedroza and thought he would certainly annex the WBA title that afternoon

but then I remembered he was the WBA champion and what country he was from and the result of the Lockridge bout

but still, the draw result does say a lot about how Pedroza's day went, doesnt it?

Bernard was slick, quick, and made Pedroza sick!

No. All it says about the day was that Taylor literally sprinted away from Pedroza all fight long. Go watch it again. There's nothing necessarily "slick" about running. If he'd actually done some boxing that day instead of running for his life your argument might hold some water, but as most of your arguments go...........try again.

Is Sanchez an ATG, even with his relatively short career?

To me he is, but the problem here is that the term "ATG" is defined at least slightly differently by just about everyone. That's why discussions of who qualifies as such and who doesn't are kind of silly. There is no one definition.

I'm afraid the only case which this applies is Fernandez Arguello 1 in which Fernandez was undservedly given the win

Taylor-Pedroza was something different. Pedroza tried but couldnt keep up with the newbie upstart and wound up losing 12-3 on my card

was it as bad as Whitaker-Chavez? not quite as bad but was clearly outclassed

they say Leonard is, and Sal accomplished more at this point of his career. had he not perished, it wouldve surel been Sanchez with a W 15 overPedroza instead of Bernard Taylor D 15 Pedroza

This, of course, is why others score world title fights for a living, and you are here anonymously on a message board giving your scores.

Jo Jo Guerra being one of them I'm sure, not to mention the judges who watched over Pedroza & Chavez. very generous indeed. having connections as long as one votes the way they are told

This card wouldn't happen to be the inside the colouring book your mother bought you for Christmas, would it? :silly

Pedroza, like Leonard (supposedly great fighters) performed quite poorly when pitted against those blessed with fast hands N feet

I dont see how Eusebio could possibly end up with a draw, but at least Norris got justice. (the bout was so lopsided, the SI writer covering the story had to stay off the subject of the fight itself. that's how bad it was)
