Sure, Maidana may catch Floyd, being Floyd is older, but he's not going to be able to follow him up. Floyd has a good chin , so I don't know what the talk about one punch may change everything in this fight. Maidana is an accumulative puncher. He hasn't knocked out any world class opponents with one punch. So stop trying to make Maidnana to be something he isn't. Expect a Guerrero type of performance from Floyd. You boxing fans use cliches so much, it's stupid.
Whilst I agree on the outcome of the fight, but who has scored knock outs over world class opponents with one punch - in recent years Pac vs Hatton, JMM vs Pac, Martinez vs PW
My point exactly. It's hard enough already to knock out a world class opponent, let alone Mayweather who's above world class.
Maidana's beating of Broner made him one of my favourites overnight but I'll be surprised if he wins a round, let alone the fight. He's hardly Julian Jackson - in this case, a "punchers chance" is another way of saying he has no chance.
It's a myth that Maidana has a 'punchers chance', in fact Khan had more of a punchers chance. Reasons: 1. Maidana's power is massively overrated. 2. Mayweather's chin is underrated. 3. Maidana isn't a good finisher. He just goes wild and more often than not gives his opponents chance to recover by fouling. 4. You don't land **** on Alexander, you don't land **** on Mayweather. 5. Even if Mayweather has aged 5 years since his last fight, Maidana is still too slow for him (hence Khan having more of a 'punchers chance')
Maidana did cave in Victor Cayo's sternum with one right hand to the upper abdomen. However, as other say, he doesn't have a string of scary one punch kayos, like, say Roy Jones. He's not an accurate enough puncher for that. He's just a guy throwing clubbing shots to beat guys up and wear them down. But he does have the ability to turn a fight around in a hurry and put the other guy on his heels if he does connect big. Just watch the fights with Lopez, Ortiz, and JSK to see.
He punches very hard but is not a great finisher. The real question is how many fighter's he has hurt with single shots.
Lopez said he hits harder than Alvarez or Ortiz. He can punch very, very hard at 147. Make no mistake.
he punches very hard apparently.. but i don't think one punch will seal the deal.. it will take lots of punches in bunches to end the fight... like lucas did to molina
He hits hard but in a clubbing fashion. He's not fast and to the point like Tito was. I just don't see him catching Floyd with one of those shots unless Floyd vastly underestimates him. To answer the question, I can't think of one I've witnessed.
Maidana if he wins, it will be by a brutal sustained beating with 2 or 3 kd's, he isn't a one punch KO artist but if he hurts Floyd early it gives him a chance to build on that and change the fight. Early rounds are Key here.
Rounds 1-3 are critical for Maidana:good Also as stated Maidana is not a one punch KO boxer:bbb :smoke
