Michael Koncz: Pacquiao considering promoting himself

    Pacquiao's advisor, Michael Koncz, acknowledged amicable discussion with Arum, even as he said the eight-division titlewinner is broaching the idea of promoting himself under his own MP Promotions' banner and partnering with others for his fights.

    "Arum has a company to protect and I have a fighter and a friend to protect. We may extend our contract with Bob. Bob has been good to us, and we have nothing negative to say about Top Rank, but we have to decide what's best for Manny at this stage of his career." said Koncz of Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter since 2005.

    "We've been with Top Rank a long time, and they were good to us, so we don't know. If we don't extend our contract with Top Rank, we may go out on our own and promoter ourselves. Maybe we'll have a partner and promoter ourselves. We have not talked about any opponents."

    Let's hope he does promote himself and not be stupid/resign so we get the Floyd fight.

    Koncz seems like the only one from Pac's team that wants to make the fight. Who knows what the future holds

    Jfc manny might do this and guys are like "Floyd will just find another reason"...give it a rest....this isn't a done deal...if it happens we might be on to something....if it happens and there's still a roadblock then u can have your day....it means nothing till it happens and both sides talk

    Given the position Pacquiao is in, it wouldn't be in his best interest to tie himself to a long term contract with one promoter.

    i can imagine duckweather saying to him sign to mayweather promotion don't make your own see anther way to avoid the fight .....
