Is it fair to say now that Calzaghe's win over Hopkins trumps any win Mayeather has?

It is funny to how most people on here view the Marquez win as ****.

I barely ever argue for Floyd, but he dominated Marquez who was an already great fighter, and proved he wasn't past it by KTFO of Pac, Floyd's biggest rival.

True, Griffin had a great game plan and was frustrating the hell out of Roy, even fighting dirty a bit..

But I think the fight was rapidly swinging in favor of Roy when the knockdown came.. I think Roy hit him out of frustration and the fact that he was taking a knee instead of staying up and letting Roy finish him... He also hit Roy with a foul at the end of the round before that the ref didn't see.

I also felt Griffin could continue, but flopped after clearly looking up in the refs eyes like "he just hit me while im down, wtf?!"

Don't get me wrong, Calzaghe's win over Hopkins was a great win...

But to say Floyd doesn't have a single win in the conversation with that one is crazy to me.

One of the most underrated "top tier" victories of the whole damn era, the way some people insist on viewing it.

The line is conveniently drawn between the routine supporters which just further shows the agenda driving how people view victories and the performances in fights.

    idiot.

it was **** because jmm was 2 weight classes below.

his only chance was for pedjr honoring the contracted c/w which he didnt.

jmm went up (or had to) 9lbs (135-144) and pedjr had to go down 3lbs, instead he only went down 1 lb.

when was the last time pedjr went up 2 weight classes against anyone?
he didnt, because he cant. only atg's do 2 weight classes.:hi:

Absolutely. Overall body of work is a different story but Calzaghe moving up a class and beating the p4p #3 fighter for the linear title is impressive, especially considering Hopkins' subsequent career. Floyd doesn't really have that one big signature win over an ATG P4P fighter. He has the name value but the timing for the fights is all wrong:

ODLH: Shot to pieces and semi-retired. Single subsequent win: Forbes.
Cotto: Shot after two severe beatings. Single subsequent win: Delvin Rodriguez.
Mosley: Shot. Single subsequent win: Cano.
JMM: 2 divisions above his weight class.
Hatton: 1 division above his weight class, lost every time he stepped up.

Hernandez/Corrales/JLC/Gatti/Judah/Baldomir/Alvarez/Guerrero/Ortiz/Maidana: Not even close to ATG level, shouldn't even be HOF, some not even very good in the first place.

then dawson and pascal have superior wins too.its just not true, mayweather would never wait till someone was 40something to fight them even once for a title, nevermind calzaghes multiple habit of picking fights with grannies..

Pascal doesn't have a win over Hopkins.

Yes, Dawson does have a better win than anything on Floyd's resume. Slightly different than Calzaghe because he didn't go up in weight to do it and Hopkins wasn't P4P at the time, but still better than anything Floyd has done.

Name me one fighter that's H2H better than that version of Hopkins from Mayweather's resume?

JL Castillo is the best scalp on Mayweather's resume, but no.

Calzaghe is all you gents across the pond have to hold on too and I can understand it, but the reality is that he is not half the fighter that Mayweather is and never was. Yall can hem and haw about Lacy, Roy Jones, and Hopkins but when you stand him and Mayweather side by side and compare their skills and ring IQ, it is a foregone conclusion that Calzaghe is light years behind Mayweather. Ask fighters who's skills they would rather enter the ring with and you will have your answer soon enough.

Wow, you have a lot of posts for only being on here since November...

I see you hating on Floyd quite a bit too.. Someone needs a life..

And think before you call me a *****, I really don't like him that much.. But the fact is, he dominated Marquez, who put Pac into a coma with one punch.. It is what it is.

you say that but if all our young best SMWs waited till your best SMWs were 40something then we'd be able to edge them out via life and death struggle. If the next George Groves can somehow wait till Ward turns 44 then I would bet on him being able to outgass Ward after getting beaten up for the first part of the fight just like joe calzaghe did with bhop.

not to mention other weights. If prime Khan, Frampton and Kell fight Pacman and Mayweather when they are 40something then they may edge them out to.

and then we will have beat all your legends. The Cowardzaghe plan works wonders.
