It will be interesting to watch for the people supporting these views comments on the fight tomorrow. Obviously with them boycotting it they won't be boring us to tears in the threads about the fight tomorrow, will they?

TBH, I never liked the idea of Pac v Bradley2, Pac v JMMV (next), Floyd v the ghost or Serg v Cotto, but I buy these fights because I love boxing. Now I will buy them as a matter of principle . . . the hell do people who want to organize these boycotts think they are? I have been around the sport all of my 41 years and I never heard anyone say lets boycott SRL until he fights the Hawk or Oscar until he fights Winky . . . its foolish. If you decide not to buy the fight, thats your choice, but how in the hell is boycotting the biggest event of the year suppose to help boxing? Thats like baseball fans saying lets boycott the world series until the implement instant replay because the best teams may not make it to the end. or Football fans saying unless there is strict OSTD for all players we should boycott the superbowl because the best teams may not make it to the end.

Nobody wanted to see bradley2 but I did not see a boycott over that . . . and I am glad because as a fan of pacs and the sport it would hurt both. I do not see a boycott over Serg fighting Cotto when he really should be fighting GGG. Serg's has never made and effort or spoke a word about GGG. Yet Pac alked away in 2009 and hung up in 2012. 2014 he calls floyd out a few days before he is getting ready to announce Bradley2.

Fans will decide whether or not PBF v MM is worth it . . . they do not need a bunch of internet yahoo's how to spend their money.

I'm sure there wasathread on here just like this when Pac fought Rios.

Not sure why, but only Mayweather seems to be held to such a standard that a unification bout is ridiculed.

I fully expect Mayweather to win, but I love watching him box so much that I'll be staying up to watch it. Same with Pac when he fought Rios. Two ATGs and we have people who are so incredibly stupid that they can't just appreciate them whilst we have them without resorting to nonsense like this.

its funny how many pac fans ingnore that or dance around it with comments like "health come first" and call floyd a ducker, chicken, cherrypicker.....yet they cant acknowledge truth

its funny to hear arum say one minute "i dont even know who to call to make the fight".....then hes saying "were willing to do the fight...just waiting for someone to call us"-on the same day he announces pac/bradley 2.....its really unreal....so blatant....yet these guys just ignore it

Iole who is a floyd nuthugger wrote it in his article, as well as HBOs Mark Taffet confirming this who should know a thing or 2 about financial forecasting.

There are, though, far more reasons for his failure to again hit the one-million barrier for the fourth fight in a row.

A large one was his venture to Macau, China, in 2013 to face Brandon Rios. Pacquiao was coming off a devastating knockout loss to Marquez in his previous fight and took extra time off.

It was more than 11 months between fights by the time Pacquiao stepped in to face Rios, and while that may have been the right decision for his health, it hurt on a sales front.

He was in the Philippines in that time, far away from the American media. Like it or not, regular, ongoing media attention plays a major role in a fighter's success.

Pacquiao simply got little attention in the U.S. for many of those 11 months he was off.

Promoter Bob Arum knew going into the fight in Macau that the pay-per-view results would suffer, and they did. It's hard to pinpoint why because the fights start at the exact same time in the U.S., but whenever a pay-per-view event is taken outside the U.S., it loses a minimum of 25 percent of its sales and up to as much as 45 percent.

The UFC found that out repeatedly when it put on pay-per-views from outside of North and South America. The decline in sales rate is a significant reason why it hasn't held a pay-per-view in Europe, Asia or Australia since UFC 127 at Sydney on Feb. 27, 2011.

The Pacquiao-Rios fight sold 475,000 on pay-per-view, the lowest for a Pacquiao fight since he did 206,000 in a lightweight title fight against David Diaz on June 28, 2008.

The event in Macau was well-staged, but there were few North American media at the event and the sales suffered.

Mark Taffet, the president of pay-per-view for HBO, said Thursday that the fight was expected to register "in the neighborhood of 475,000 buys, and generate roughly $30 million of PPV revenue." The number of buys could take months or even years to trickle in.

Taffet explained that pay-per-view events originating from overseas generally do between 30% and 40% of the buys compared to similar events that originate from the U.S.

"We knew there were challenges and tempered our expectations from the beginning," Taffet said. "It was an extraordinary effort by everyone involved, and we recognized that anything above 350,000 buys would be a success.
