Maidana put up a good fight, but really - and this is just right after this fight happened - Cotto hit Mayweather with more scoring punches. I mean, sure it was exciting that Maidana just swarmed Mayweather it was fun, but I just didn't really see him landing with many clean, significant punches. Good fight, fun fight to watch it was interesting early, but I thought Mayweather weathered the storm and really took over in the second half of the fight. It makes me think that if they were to rematch Mayweather would have an easier time. Nonetheless, props to Maidana, he won the event.

Maidana had success tonight because he pretty much tried to mug Mayweather for 12 rounds. He used his size and weight to lean, hit and hold against the ropes, that's why it was so ugly and that's why some people thought it was competitive.Outside of the 11th Maidana lost the final third of the fight.
