He didn't use it to do that in this fight though. Late on in the Oscar fight he did .

I thought he was gonna follow it up with the right hand upstairs but he didn't.

He threw it because he didn't wanna risk throwing power punches to the body but he still wanted to throw something downstairs because he was being told Maidana is soft to the body.

it doesn't necessarily have to be the preclude to a shot upstairs. The mere fact that he was hitting Maidana with it quite a bit made Maidana have to respect that there's a possibility that shot was coming. Floyd bending down but coming up with a shot upstairs successfully can be attributed to the jabs to the body landing well.

 

i wasnt paying attention to floyds feints to the body. ill keep a look out when i watch it again tommorow, thanks
