You are half thinking along the right lines.

If we get a shock, this is likley why it will happen.

Did Archie Moore ever comment on this fantasy matchup?? Having trained George and fought Rocky, it would be kind of interesting to hear his thoughts if he made any.

I'm pretty sure he was asked at one point in time or another. But I agree that it would be interesting to hear the answer.

You are not crazy just someone with zero boxing IQ in judging fights...........

It took roughly T H I R T Y rounds for Marciano to dispatch balding old man at the tailend of their respective careers, got himself knocked down in the progress and had to come from behind to beat grandpas waiting in the soup kitchen line.....

It is sheer nonsense to believe that a slow, plodding 185 pounder is going to succeed going toe to toe with a certified extremely hard hitting , not the most skillful but nevertheless, genuine bad ass with a great chin Foreman.

In order to trouble/beat Foreman you have to beat him to the punch........Rocky aint that guy, period.

Marciano goes down in the early rounds but gets up. Then Foreman gets tired and Marciano knocks him out in round 8-9.

If Rocky can get inside and do work, he has a good chance; otherwise, George has the better chance.

Marciano is a "Slow, plodding 185 pounder." Yet Foreman is a GENUINE badass! GENUINE! Lol It's you with the zero IQ here professor. That "balding old man" was still a hell of a boxer and not as far past his best as some want to believe.

Telling somebody they have zero IQ when it comes to judging fights because they say ROCKY MARCIANO (If there was ever a GENUINE BADASS it's him) could possibly beat Foreman... You know what, what the hell am I bothering for. Lol

    Continue thinking this:good

what a disaster for Marciano. Foreman might have hit him so hard with the uppercut he lifts him off the ground 2 feet.

the less than prime Frazier that fought Foreman was not close to Marciano as a 2-fisted force and Marciano was harder to hit without putting yourself in a position to be nail by an unorthodox power shot. Foreman fights against the 5"7 Dwight Quawi and Big foot Martin showed me that he had some trouble with shorter guys and the Lyle fight showed me why a prime Foreman's management avoided punchers. Lyle was a strong guy but most of his wins when he moved in class were SD and close fights and a draw with Peralta so for me Lyle was overrated as a puncher but looked like one vs Foreman.

I dont think Marciano goes down and out with one punch and if he did go down his stamina and ability to land would allow him to hit and hurt Foreman and I think the difference between Lyle and Marciano would be Marciano finishes him when he hurts him. A lot of people look at the Frazier fight and think Marciano would be a repeat but I think even a prime tough Quarry or Bonavena had a good chance of upsetting George.

Also if the fights goes beyond the 4th and Marciano's power keep Big G a little cautious the Marciano stamina and late power come into effect and we can see Big George being counted out.

I love Foreman as a person but as a young Champion he had a lot of flaws and a padded record and as an older fighter he improved mentally and technically but I dont see that version as an ATG just a remarkable man

All Foreman has to do is push him if Marciano gets inside. There is no out of range for Rocky. George`s big jab would brutalize Marciano on the outside.

    Foreman KO inside 3

Marciano was difficult to nail cleanly on the outside. To get leverage you needed to be much closer to Marciano. As crude as it looked Charlie Goldman designed a stance for Rocky that forced everyone to fight Rocky at his range. To be as successful with those short arms a system was devised that controlled distance.

Outside the low, side on- crab like- stance forced the opposition to over reach so that Rocky would come up and counter his way in. His feet were closer than they looked. He lured longer armed fighters down to the range he had the leverage advantage.

Marciano was very clever to strike only once the other man committed to an attack.

There was nothing sophisticated about Foreman. it was brute force and raw power. He would swing his way into Rockys range too. Just where Marciano wanted him.

The real question here is the stoppage: would Marciano be knocked out, face first dozing, or staggering around looking for his corner among a sea of wavy bubble people and stars?

Different eras, different standards for heavyweights, a terrible matchup for Rocky.
Rocky can beat up blown up, past it LHWs all day tho'

Rocky had the power to put Foreman on his back. It WOULD be a shootout and BOTH guys would get hit. Rocky is more of an animal IMO and I just think when the smoke clears, he's going to be the one standing. BRUTAL fight!

    This.

Marciano's famous " crouch " just plays right into Foremans hands. He would straighten him up and onto his back with uppercuts. Marciano, just didn't punch fast enough to stop Foreman landing the uppercut first.

Marciano leaned over to one side. It was low but not a real crouch. He was not as square footed as you need to be to take a flush uppercut. Rockys chin was under his shoulder. I suppose a glancing uppercut could theoretically land... but it is a difficult shot to thread between elbows, shoulders and arms against a side on standing mauler.

Foreman was always open to lead rights and his hands were actually slower than Marcianos. I think Foreman would find Rocky smothering into him and frustrating to fight.
