I think it was definitely one of his better wins of the later part of his career. Maidana looked fresher than DLH, Alvarez @152. He was more skilled than Hatton and tougher than Ortiz. Now that it's all said n' done, what do you guys think?
Ok that's your opinion, I think he won close but clear and so did the judges. I think this win is better than a lot of his other fights. Maidana had way more skill on the inside than Hatton who closed the distance well but mostly smothered his own work. Cotto did well but for some reason fell apart and stopped doing what was winning him rounds, Maidana put on a much more consistant attack all the way to the very end. Maidana did a great job but Floyd still beat him = Very good win.
I thought Floyd looked pretty poor in this one; disengaged and much slower than typical. He looked like a totally different guy than the one that got in the ring against Canelo. He should have walked through Maidana... dude is a B level fighter at best. Styles make fights of course, but this looked like either an uninspired effort or as if he lost a step. Maidana is one in a long line of fighters to pressure Mayweather; I don't buy that he did it so much better than others. Would love to see him fight Maidana with the same sharpness he showed against Canelo and Guerrero.
Definitely didn't look as good as we all thought he would but I dunno, maybe Canelo really was the walking dead that night.
he struggled to get the W but truly one of his better wins. that was a totally badass chino in there and he was relentless, with nonstop blatant fouls. for Floyd to come back and win was great, nothing less than great. most of you don't know how bad chino hurt Floyd in the 1st round. huge haymaker overhand looping right that landed on the top side of floyds head. 99% of any fighter up to 154 was going down from that shot.
I think Floyd was very lucky to win. He looked awful for a lot of rounds, and ridiculously slow. I don't get how Alexander made maidana look like crap but yet Floyd, who's much much better, couldn't control the guy. I'm baffled. If he looks this bad next fight, he's shot. I just find it hard to believe he aged overnight
Spot on. Floyd looked sharp as hell against Canelo, but I think he needs to wind down his training, IMO. He's probably spent he last 6 out of 9 months in camp. But yeah, if he doesn't appear to have improved in his next fight, he's done. His age has caught up with him. And I don't think Showtime are gonna settle for easy fights. I really doubt that he has his '0' by this time next year.
very predictable was his win. I knew he would win like that, and that some people would think because Maidana won a few rounds as was aggressive, that there would be a controversy. When if you score rounds, Floyd won easily.
Best case scenario is this noob. Round 1 Maidana Round 2 Maidana Round 3 Maidana Round 4 Maidana Round 5 Maidana ( brutal ownage) Round 6 Maidana Round 7 Mayweather Round 8 Maidana Round 9 Mayweather Round 10 Mayweather Round 11 Mayweather Round 12 Mayweather If I scored points for throwing elbows and crying to the ref, Floyd would have won 2 or 3 more rounds.
Excellent win. It was the best version of a determined Maidana I have seen and Floyd had to adjust down the stretch to gut it out.
