Where do you rank Floyd all-time? How could he move up?

This "TBE" talk talk got me to thinking about where Floyd realistically ranks all time. I figure he is definitely an all time great in the top 20-25 range, but I'm not ready to put him in the top 20, let alone top 10. His style has neutralized many great fighters over the years, but it is fair to say he's missed some fights. Also I believe mayweather's power is criminally underrated, there is after all a reason why most of his opponents are effectively done by round 4, they're tired of eating that strong straight right hand. If there was no power on it, he would not be given so much respect in the ring.

Like I said I have him in the 20-25 range. He won't raise that in my book by fighting khan, maidana II, or most of the current welterweights.

A pacquiao win, however unlikely the fight is, would be good. Although it'll never mean as much as a victory in 09/10 would have. A flirtation at middleweight, whomever the opponent, can raise his standing. Also taking on a young gun like porter or Thurman, but not both no time for that if he's only fighting 3 more times, would be a solid end of career win.

Apologies for the sloppy diction of this post. Where do ya have Floyd ranked? Who do you want to see him fight to raise his all time ranking?

If he fought a 2008-2010 Cotto and 154 Canelo then he'd rank higher...

He isn't going to break top 20 without fighting Pac or Bradley...

Unless someone else establishes themselves in the next year or two as a top solid welter.

Bradley and pacquiao would be excellent for the resume

    Provodnikov would earn him respect

    Serg at 154

    Lara

I think porter or Thurman could emerge as that guy, but I'd still rather see the PAC fight first. Honestly I have no interest in Mayweather vs Bradley, can't see the casuals buying into that one either.

Good assessment. Bradley is a damn good fighter, but nothing Floyd hasn't seen before. As a fight fan, Bradley vs Mayweather would not be any form of consolation for May vs PAC never being made

He behind Pacquiao; that's for sure.

Sergio is shot now, so a victory over him would do very little. Bradley and Pacquiao would be significant, but they are both naturally smaller than Floyd (both could make light welterweight). If Lara beats Canelo, and I think he will, a victory over him would be the most helpful.

If Floyd had fought and beaten Margarito (2006 -2007) Williams (same as time span as Marg) Martinez (2011-2012), Pacquiao, Bradley, and Lara I would say he is the best of all time. If he won all but one of those - top 3. If he won all but 2 of those - top 5 or 6. If he won half of those, which is still possible - top 10-12.
