When watching the fight last night, I felt it was a close fight although I thought Mayweather won fairly clearly.

I re-watched online and I gave Maidana exactly ONE round! The fifth. If that guy landed 221 punches I'm blind. More like 21. Pretty much every body punch went to Mayweather's kidneys, and every head shot was a rabbit punch. I had the 2nd and 12th even, and even the first round with Maidana throwing 100 shots, he might have landed 5, and Mayweather was more effective.

The crank wasn't the guy who had it 117-110 that was about even, the crank was the one who had it a draw.

Before the fight, people were going on and on about "oh, Mayweather owns Vegas", and "oh...he's got a black ref" but for the second fight in a row, one of the judges, and in this case Tony Weeks, seemed to be for the opponent. I can't believe he let all of those fouls go for 12 rounds.

I think even the Showtime commentators are sick of Mayweather as they seemed to be hyping every punch Maidana landed on the back of his head.

Aggression doesn't win fights, EFFECTIVE aggression does, and Maidana was totally effective all night. Boxing fans tend to mistake ACTIVITY for ACHIEVEMENT.

So dick, thigh, and rabbit shots should be counted I guess.

People count shots to the shoulder, back, trunks, dick, back of the head, and elbows.

When they do that, I can see perhaps the 4th and 7th rounds going Maidana's way. So counting non-scoring and illegal blows, then I could give Maidana 5 rounds.

While I think Maidana probably deserved the 1st and 8th in addition to the obvious 5th round, I also think those rounds were close; similarly close to some of the rounds Mayweather won. Mayweather dominated the last 4 rounds easier then any round Maidana was competitive in other than the 5th.

The compubox numbers were inaccurate for Maidana in terms of # landed. They had to have counted the above described blocked shots as well.

if the guy on the receiving end is twisting his body so a body punch lands there sure why not ? its worth more than twisting to make a punch land on your back

if a guy throws say 10 punches in a round and the other guy throws nothing but makes the other guy miss and hit his back etc who do you give the round to ?
ineffective aggression is better than no aggression

rofl.. so a punch thats coming for mayweathers face and he uses his shoulder roll to deflect the punch is that a scoring punch ?

come on man be real, harold leddermen who is almost always biased as **** for offensive fighters said himself 25% of your score should be based on defense

compared to no punch landing yes swinging and missing 100 times beats 1 clean punch landing from a guy running in my book this isn't the olympics

if a guy aims for say the head and the other guy twists and makes that punch land on his back i score for the guy throwing over the guy twisting
im not saying i score it over the guy twisting and landing his own work im talking about swinging and missing is better than not throwing at all

Just look at the khan vs mccklosky fight so you score all those rounds for mcclosky do you ? you prefer making someone miss but not throwing over someone throwing then ?

No doubt you scored all of Salido's low blows as scoring punches...
btw, how many elbows did Floyd land and how many times did he clinch?

it takes more skill to make someone miss.... than to throw wild shots just to please viewers...

lucan your logic isnt good, making someone miss can save your life or serious injury in a street fight, ring.

I don't count any fighters' low blows... or their back shots, or rabbit punches, or punches that get blocked by shoulders, or punches that get blocked by gloves.

You do not want to discuss who fought dirtier between Floyd and Maidana if you are taking the pro-Maidana side your tone suggests.

EDIT: Mayweather clinched only when he was against the ropes. Guess what? There would have been no clinching if Maidana had used a different strategy that allowed for slight spacing between them. But no. He mugged so hard (which was smart) that he was draping his arms and body mass down on Floyd. Clinches result from that. Most of those clinches were results of the fight. Any fight that goes down like that one; a swarmer vs. a pure boxer, will have plenty of that and then some. You should know this sort of stuff.
