I have to say that Khan improved me against Collazo, he was very disciplined and defiantly not so wild and reckless as before. But however, i still feel that in some parts, Khan should've kept on attacking while he had Collazo hurt or in trouble, he was a little too cautious tonight.

However compared to the other fights, there were major improvements and let's not forget that a lot posters here on ESB thought that Collazo would knock him out and it was a risky fight for Khan. Do you think that Khan will improve even more and what does he has to improve the must in the future? & Did you notice improvements in Khan's footwork?

    I'd say:

    - Counterpunching and fighting on the back foot. He actually has shown abilities to fight on the inside, which Peterson exposed him for not doing.
    - Improve his offensive with regards to knowing when too keep attacking and when to pull back, not leave himself open to counters.

    He did surprisingly well.

At times he would use his lead hand to control Collazo and create distance. When Collazo put pressure on him, he was sometimes able to manoeuvre away from the ropes and get back to the middle of the ring using neater and smarter footwork than he usually does. He was also ducking down a bit more than usual (I think Malignaggi pointed that out?), while in the past he's often been quite stiff and upright. He didn't seem to panic as much when he was under pressure, too -- he seemed more composed rather than bouncing around the ring burning up energy. I also thought his punches looked sharper and more accurate. Rather than just throwing flurries, he looked like he was picking his shots a bit more, jabbing here and there, throwing nice straight right hands, etc.

The constant clinching was a foul, but he was punished for that with the point deduction. Clinching is normal in boxing matches, though, and it has been a big tool for fighters like Wladimir. Even someone as skilled as Mayweather has used it as a significant tool in some of his matches.

On the downside, it's important to remember that he was fighting a southpaw. Khan's biggest weakness is the orthodox left hook, which might be why he normally looks good against southpaw fighters. I noticed that there was a moment where Collazo briefly turned orthodox and he was actually able to land that left hook on Khan. I also thought Khan should have used more jabs to the body when Collazo was just walking forward with his guard up. On the whole, however, it was a good performance from Khan.

Yes...But he needs to find time to train with Virgil REGULARLY.

It would be very easy for Khan to take time off intill the end of ramadam then come into camp for 2 months before his end of year fight...but that's no good.

He needs to train while he's in England & maintain a healthy lifestyle + diet. I still believe 2010 Khan at 140 was his peak & prime... to remain strong and stable at 147 he needs to look after his body...

This is one thing I respect HUGELY ABOUT VIRGIL. He understands the commitment fighter must make to maintain his ability at top level...especially with a guy like Khan who isn't Pacquiao or Mayweather level elite. Roach wouldn't have been keeping an eye on what khan does once he leaves camp...Virgil sure does.

    Thats a good insight.. :deal

Just like to add Khan's power did look a little more improved, and I feel vs an orthodox opponent he can set the right hand up properly after his jab, with his speed that can hurt and stun guys coming in..

Khan looks good at this weight..

If Khan continues to fight the way he did against Collazo he can beat many fighters. That's exactly how he was supposed to fight against all his opponents. Exchanging to impress abstinent inbred twitter ******s will take him nowhere.

Who else has Hunter trained besides Ward?

If Roach was in Khan's corner, he would of got the stoppage.
Hunter is garbage. Just like at Perro and Berto.

I was glad to hear Hunter really getting at Khan after round 11, warning him not just to hold his gloves up over his face and stand still. He's done that far too often and it lets opponents tee off on him.

Although Khan has never had an inside game, it was interesting to see the body-shot he landed that led to the second knockdown. He hooked Collazo's right arm and lifted it up to create an opening for himself. It was the kind of thing I've seen Ward do in the past, so Hunter has obviously been working on things like that with him.

There was a huge improvement from his performance against Diaz and I'm looking forward to seeing how Khan looks next time out.

That was an interesting thing to see. I've never seen Khan do something like that before. I do remember him holding Judah down with one arm so he could land the body shot that KO'd him, but I haven't seen him hook a fighter's arm and pull it away to create an opening for a shot. (Although I think both cases are technically illegal, as it's holding and hitting, but it's probably something that fighters tend to get away with.)

After last nights performance I'd say yes look for slight better movement to enable khan to use sharper angled movement to land quick combo's and set up possible off balance kd's to points score to the maximum advantage . Also more holding of a tactical nature .
