Leo Santa Cruz has revealed that he expects to face Scott Quigg in a huge unification fight this summer before a showdown with Carl Frampton before the end of the year.

There has been much speculation over whether Santa Cruz, the WBC super-bantamweight champion, will look to unify the belts or face mandatory challenger Frampton, who is rated No 1 by the WBC after knocking out Hugo Cazares in two rounds in Belfast in April.

But the California-based Mexican says he wants to take Quigg's WBA regular strap in July meaning Frampton will have to wait at least another six months before he gets a shot at the world title.

Copied this from the mail online if this is true where does frampton go?

I have raised the possibility of Carl getting gazumped by Scott Quigg on here. If this is true, it looks like it might be happening. What a dose!

Really weird scenario. I suppose if quigg were to win he could opt to fight kiko then if he won that rigo and regardless of the result against rigo move up to feather however if he were to lose I'm guessing it takes a fair bit of appeal away from the frampton fight

Could this not re-open a fight with Kiko for Frampton?

    Could be a blessing

Whats even more sickening is that LSC says clearly himself that Frampton is the better on the two - stronger than Quigg with more tools in his kit.

This is certainly bad news for Carl, no matter what way you look at it. :patsch

Yeh Santa Cruz indicating he thinks this is the safer fight. Wait for mcguigan to try and rescue the situation this week by doing a u turn Nd saying they want the quigg fight

    Yes, you right about that.
Its Carls only way to rescue something from this situation it seems.
Right now - (in theory, all going well etc etc ) Carl could fight and beat 2 undefeated world champions (Quigg and LSC) and in doing so become a global star in boxing.

After they fight each other one of their stock - the loser -will have fallen hugely, and the person who will most lose out from this is Carl. Bloody hell!

No surprise. Frampton brings nothing to the table.

    He'll regret McGuigan's greed.

What's the situation with kiko from framptons point of view? Has he lost his ibf ranking? Surely the right money could get him a kiko rematch?

Barry may be a nice guy-but he is in way over his head when negotiating with the real sharks like Fast Car and Golden Boy.He is not in their league and regardless how stubborn he is he must accept this for Framptons sake.Pride comes before the fall.:deal

The only way it could happen would be if Hearn allows Quigg to go to America on a GBP card to fight LSC. Fast car does have form for sending over no hopers for beatings in the states i.e. Rees against Broner & Barker to Martinez (but to be fair these where once in a lifetime opportunities) but he hasn't sent one of his ''belt holders'' like Quigg over before.

There is zero chance that Hearn would offer a big enough cheque to get LSC over here as Quigg is not box office and could not generate the funds to make it feasible unlike Frampton.

The best thing in these circumstances for Quigg and Frampton is to thrash out a deal for a big summer fight on sky- hopefully frrank will agree to allow Carl to defer the remaining fight on his BN contract until after he beats Quigg.

Quigg must know he needs to travel and he had the option of kiko in Manchester. The way Santa Cruz is talking it's something that's been discussed so I reckon quiggs on going over there

Barry could easily go to Warrren for help in dealing with Hearn if necessary - if Fast Car is a shark then Frrank is a negotiating Whale. Golden Boy is obviously a completely different situation interms of being able to deal with them.

    :wooo

Is fighting Carl in Belfast or England a more attractive option for Quigg than LSC stateside?

    Hopefully!

If you were Quigg which would you choose?
