Would you agree that now is the time for one governing body for boxing?


JMM Hopkins Pac Floyd and many other high caliber boxing stars is nearing retirement, boxing will slide more without these guys. Would you agree that it’s better for boxing that all boxing organizations promoters and boxing fights be governed and approved by one body?

- no more squabbles by promoters
- no more ducking
- best will only fight the best
- only one source of standard rating for boxers
- fighters will have more chance of getting a huge payday
- fighters will get more from the purse that they won

Thoughts on this, would it also lift boxing back in its glory days? Any more ideas on its advantages and disadvantages.:good

 

Who, or what would run this organization? Will the power structure be akin to a fascistic totalitarian power center like the one scene in the UFC and Dana White?

Will it be an international operation that is co-run by many people from all across the globe, from many different countries to ensure fairness and further promotion of the sport in certain parts of the globe.

 

well all boxing organizations such as WBO WBA IBF and many others would convene and agree it will be good for them the fighters and boxing.

A national commission, here in the US, is long overdue.

Monopolization means that the fighters putting their lives on the line get pennies against the lone vanguard promoter.

 

I think that's one of the most bizarre things in boxing in the US.

 

If Stiverne were to beat Arreola, Don King will control the WBC heavyweight title like he did for years, ask Tyson what Don King did to him.................matter of fact, ask many others......................

Funny how so many want Stiverne to beat Arreola because it will bring the title back to America?! Stiverne is from Haiti and lives in Canada, it is Arreola who lives in American and is an American, Mexican American, but an American citizen....................Vladimir Klitscko has a house in Florida...............they also wanted Sam Peter to beat Oleg Maskaev, yet Peter was owned by Don King and was from Nigera, Oleg Maskaev is, and was, an American citizen.............so, this is not provincial by a long shot...............Void is exciting? Vlad and Vitali boring? Vlad knocked Povetkin down 4 times, Void can't even knock a woman out, he didn't even have gloves on when he beat her up, it was bare knuckle!

Why in the entire hell would the other governing organizations just shut down themself? "Oh, we aren't really appreciated? Oh noes. Well then, for the good of the noble and pure and incorrupted sport of Boxe we shall.... disappear. Goodbye!".

Nope. Having 4 or more belts per division allows for more champions, more championship fights, more drama, more debates, more ducking and more cherrypicking, more multidivision champions, more between-divisions matchups, more talking and more publicity.

In other words, more belts========>>>> more moneys.

Even if it harms and ridiculize the sport of boxing, who freakin' cares? Who has the power to change anything?

After all, what will peoples, fans ever do? Will they boycott, will they go away? Ahah, no they won't do anything. And they couldn't.

Boxing is growing, the market is growing, the fanbase is growing.

If anything, it's more probable that another belt will be created and added, than one of the existing ones will be removed.
In a far future, we'll have 5, 6 and more belts for division.

 

just suggesting that the existing organizations will remain but will be under a ruling body which will monitor and give international sanctions for them to comply ... and aside from the ratings that they have for boxers there would be a credible world rating just like chess players

...then from the existing belts such as WBO WBA IBF and other blahblah orgs , we could have international belts like the FIBA format for every continent and a world boxing superbowl.

....well that's a dream worth dreaming for boxing.

Course that'd be the ideal for the sport, but as has been pointed out, the financial interests of too many parties are at stake for this to have a realistic chance at happening.

Of note on the subject is AIBAs attempt to develop Pro-Am boxing, which could in theory eventually form the kernel for just such an organisation by having monopoly control over the amateurs emeging in the sport.

The scheme has beeen met with unified hostility throughout the professional boxing organisations, and if, and when it finally gets going (hopefully this year), I expect to see the top stars lured away in short order with OTT rewards to ensure it never gets taken seriously.
