Tito needed to reset to throw his bombs. His ponderous footwork got worse as he moved up in weight but even at 147 it was a flaw that would be exploited by Duran. Duran was not at all easy to hit coming across the danger zone when in shape. Duran's footspeed gave a prime Leonard problems in Montreal. It would wreck havoc on Tito. I see a late stoppage here.

Duran by stoppage Trinidad had a habit of getting caught and even put down in championship fights by less than stellar opponents so a prime motivated Duran hands him his arse

I picked Duran but I thought the poll would be a lot closer. What happened to all of the Trinidad fans from a few years ago?

I am a Trinidad fan and I admit at one time I over rated him. He was a great fighter though and I agree that his power at `47 was about as good as it gets. Duran just has too much finesse along with power of his own and the better chin.

I don't believe it is a matter of " Trinidad fans " its more a case of boxing fans living in the real world.

Tito could NEVER beat Duran, as long as his ass points downwards.

If you watch the Brawl in Montreal closely Duran isn't just simply bull rushing Srl he's outboxing Srl too. Duran is timing Srl and at times countering him. If Srl knew he was getting outbrawled he was the type that found a way to win. If he was getting outboxed like in the Hearns fights he turned into a ko machine. In the Duran fight you see desperation in Leonard cuz no matter what he did Duran was out doing him. Duran had a better chin and power than Tito, aside from better boxing IQ and defense. Duran would school him. Tito simply not on his level. Late tko win for Duran.

You are a million percent correct. I also wonder where these blind Leonard fans get the idea that Duran just bullied him.

Everything Leonard tried Duran had an answer for. It is interesting to note how many times Carlos Padilla just knocked or pulled Leonards arm down rather than call break when Leonard was clinging onto Duran to try to get a rest from the punishment.

Duran was susceptible to left hooks and Tito had a trememdous left hook and was naturally bigger and stronger.

I think at 147 Tito likely hit slightly harder than Leonard in his left hand but definately harder with the right hand. The same goes for Duran. Trinidad hit harder than him at welter as well. Both hands.

Trinidad is not likely to have his back against the ropes like Leonard did in Montreal because he is not a versatile as Leonard in fighting off his back foot. I see Duran not as the aggressor but as the counter puncher. More like the DeJesus III Duran rather than the Montreal Duran.

It is not to his advantage to rush and look to have extended exchanges with Trinidad who will land and will hurt Duran if he connects with rights and hooks for any extended amount of time.

Duran wins, on points or late KO but after a very carefull boxing match that keeps Trinidad from setting his feet and firing at will. If you keep Tito moving you can make his think about whether or not he should throw his punches or not. If I were Duran, I keep firing that jab and moving looking for counter rights.

In terms of power yes I would agree but Tito was also much slower with his hands and feet than Leonard. RL had some of the quickest hands in history and Duran made him miss 4 out of every 5 punches he threw right from the pocket.

Tito wasn`t really much of an infighter and I believe Duran would be the boss inside. He had so much intelligence and knew how to get his shots off while keeping at an angle and protecting his chin. He was a master inside.
