After a long time of inactivity due to personal issues and management problems, former Unified World Champion Yuriorkis " El Ciclón de Guantánamo " Gamboa is finally back! Gamboa will battle Terrence Crawford on 6/28 for Crawford's WBO junior lightweight belt. The two combatants have an identical record of 23-0-16 ko's ( but Gamboa has a huge edge in amateur exp ), so this will be a very interesting fight. Gamboa's long inactivity could hurt him but his natural talent, athleticism and pure skills could still give him the edge over Crawford. Who you got and how? I got GAMBOA! :good
I hope Gamboa has not lost it after such a long time. I am a huge fan of his and really felt that he was gone for good. Let's put this WBO junior lightweight belt under the belt. Just enlight me on this one - which title is Scotsman Ricky Burns holding? Maybe the WBO LW Title?
Agreed, I also felt the same way. Gamboa was on track for super stardom and the top 5 P4P list but he completely dissapeared. I am really happy to see him back and I just hope he beats Crawford even if it's by decision as that will help him get rid of the ring rust. Gamboa is my favorite Cuban ( close to Rigo ) as he is super exciting and explosive to watch! :good
must been that balco scandal that got him inactive.. i do wish to see more of him as well..he is an entertaining fighter.
Great to see a talent like Gamboa back unfortunately hes also facing one of my favorite fighters in Terence Crawford. Crawford has a very tricky style that could make almost everybody look bad that coupled with Gamboa's innactivity and the fight being in Crawford's hometown i cant see this being anything other than Crawford by decision. Too bad a fight between Gamboa and Garcia couldnt be made that would have been a much better fight but hey at least Gamboa's back, gotta take the ggod with the bad.
Picked Crawford points just because i dont believe for one second that Gamboa will beat very very good fighter like Crawford after lay off like this, but man if he does it he deserves all the praise in the world.
Good points but let's not forget Gamboa's huge speed and KO power as he could easily stop Crawford...
