How would Joe Calzaghe at 175 have done against Gene Tunney at 175?

Joe Calzaghe vs. Gene Tunney at 175?

    To elaborate:

All other things being equal, is Tunney's size and power his big advantage here?

Would Joe have an any advantage in footwork and speed?

Can we say that both are of comparable intelligence in the ring? Or is that absurd?

Of course we're talking about the 1924 and earlier version of Tunney here.

I think Calzaghe would have lost.

    Badly.

After the series with Greb, Tunney would have been an expert in beating Calzaghe!

Calzaghe beat a 43 years old Hopkins who dropped him,and a near 40 years old Jones who also dropped him, that's it at LHVY.

You want to match him with one of the greatest 175pounders ever?:think Tough one to call.

This would be an easy one for Gene. Calzaghe is very over-rated. First a thread about him vs. Louis, and now Tunney. Joe was good, but let's get real here.

Joe was a 168lber and a smaller light heavyweight as far as natural weight while Gene was a Big 175lber so I favor Gene at 175lbs and up

Of all the great wonders of the world, few are so magnificent as the almighty Pride of Whales, AKA " The Italian Dragon." Joe's lightening fast pitter patter shots and high volume work rate would turn the "fighting marine" into the "stinking latrine" and humiliate him in front of all his fellow veterans.

Probably he would have got beaten by stiffening left-rights, but he's a difficult, difficult fighter to face. And I think Joe fought like Greb.

Both fighters had brittle hands and their power suffered for it.
