Marciano was not as fast as Frazier , his head movement as good, nor his skin as durable regarding cuts.

    This is just your opinion.

I think most people will agree that Marciano was more effective at not getting hit than Joe Frazier was, more effective at landing punches than Joe Frazier was, more effective at landing a higher number of hard punches and more effective with both hands than Joe Frazier was at the time he fought George Foreman.

Head movement and speed is only any use if it is effective. Against Foreman Frazier was not effective at avoiding getting hit.

Against a wide open slugger with stamina issues like Foreman I don't think Rocky needs to worry about getting cut any more than usual.

You haven't said that Marciano has better head movement than Frazier, was faster,or had better resistance to cuts.

I therefore take it you agree with my statement therefore it is not just my opinion , it is both our opinions.
If Keene Simmons can cut Marciano badly enough that the referee considered stopping the fight,Foreman can emulate him.
At the age of 42 Foreman went 12 rds with the reigning heavyweight champion, without once sitting down.
At 45 he went 10 rd s before koing the reigning champion .
At 48 he went 12 rds to lose a majority decision to Shannon Briggs ,and he was the pursuer all night. Foreman's stamina issues are hyped out of all proportion.

I think you will find that young George was wild and green and had no pace. Old George was wise and relaxed but lacked a high workrate.

You cant combine the two and create a George Foreman that never existed.

You 've made my point, Foreman did not lack stamina, as I indicated he lacked pacing.

How about I have a George who was 32 years old?

The age Marciano was when he retired, he fights a prime Marciano ,whenever you think that was.

Frazier was at least as good as Marciano defensively , likely better and much faster. Your whole post is actually a bit nutty. Perhaps you can point to the moment in that fight when 185 pound Marciano was going to get in w his 67" reach against the wide open Foreman and not have his head knocked off.

Frazier in his short prime had a good defence. His rolling and weaving both got him into position, slipped punches and generated the leverage on his own punching. However, this coincided with his punching on the way in, something Frazier stopped doing effectively after TFOTC. After that Frazier lost about 50% of his defence once he had to walk right up to opponents and feel his way in before letting go shots. The earlier pinpoint accuracy as he covered ground put the other follow onto defensive mode and discouraged their fullest offence. It meant that after TFOTC all Frazier opponents would discover that there was a range where there would be NOTHING coming back from Joe and that is why Foreman had such a picnic against him.

As you say Frazier at one time had something like a good effective defence..but not by the time he met Foreman.

Young Foreman was actually easy to hit. I don't think anyone missed him with a right hand. George was so strong and good at getting his own bombs in that he got away with it a lot of the time but then he missed out on a lot of dynamite punchers like shavers, Mac Foster, Bonavena, quarry and later Bruno, Ruddock, Lewis, McCall, Tua etc etc.

Watch prime George fight Ted Gullick. I Beg you to watch it. Ted never missed him. The fight will show you all you need to know about prime Foremans defence. pity Gullick never had Marcianos power, defence or durability.

A 32 year old Foreman (had he stayed in boxing) would have been a great version of Foreman...but that guy never existed. By then George was a 300lb preacher.

Neither Bonavena nor Quarry were dynamite punchers.

Ted Gullick had 14 kos in his 15 wins.

I'd say Foreman met a lot more punchers than Frazier ever did.

Foreman would either shove the relatively tiny Marciano back in range of his hooks whenever he got close, or uppercut him when he did.

This is just fanciful invention on your part.
You have created a Marciano that never existed to bolster up your argument, he was slow afoot, and slow of hand.
Frazier was 29 years old when he was bombed stupid by Foreman.
Marciano's durability was never tested against a big powerpuncher of which Foreman is the benchmark, and his defence was very porous. Did Marciano hit harder than Morrison,Lyle,Cooney?

There is nothing fanciful about Frazier losing 50% of his defence after TFOTC when he stopped throwing punches on the way in. There was a range where foreman knew there would be nothing coming back. He had a picnic.

No Rockys defence was not very porous. He took punches yes, but at world level he was difficult to nail cleanly. He often only took glancing blows or rolled with them. Elbows, shoulders, gloves. He was like a crab. Rocky always hit the other man back too. His workrate neutralised the other fellow. He was a very frustrating man to fight and he had two handed power.

    Yes.

Foreman would have to reach into Marcianos punching range to put his hands on him and push Rocky. The uppercut is a very difficult punch to land on the outside against a man leaning over to one side. It also exposes George to counters. Joe Louis at 213 was pushed around easily by Rocky he was a strong man himself.

Foreman has inches of reach to spare on Marciano's wingspan and Marciano would have to reach up to try and connect ,coming out of his crouch to do so, when he does, he gets nailed and heavily.

Louis was a slow relic when he fought Marciano , but because he is the only name of any real class who was 200lbs that is on Rocky''s resume he is regurgitated at every opportunity by Rocky boosters..
    It's kind of pathetic really.

It's all very well citing the Ted Gullick fight but look how much punishment Foreman was putting on him and where did it get Gullick?...knocked the hell out inside of 2 rounds.

Yes, Marciano had more power than Gullick and yes he may have been harder to nail cleanly but the chances are that Rocky is going to be hit by George more often than the other way round and those thudding shots are going to knock him out of his stride, no matter how tough he was.
