    Few share that view, and there are few better fights out there for Golovkin.

    middleweight Matthew Macklin has seen his fight with former IBF champion Daniel Geale shelved after the bill in Texas was cancelled due to an injury to heavyweight Mike Perez.

    Macklin is attempting to move himself back up the world rankings after a crushing defeat to Gennady Golovkin last summer, and a victory over Geale would have put him back in contention for another world title shot.

    However, a shoulder injury to Perez, whose encounter with Bryant Jennings was headlining the card, has seen the event postponed.

    No announcement has been made on whether Macklin's encounter with Geale or Perez's showdown with Jennings will be rearranged for a later date.

    Article at the scene has Golovkin-Kessler a possibility in Oct-Nov maybe at a catchweight. Hopefully Geale is in July but they're talking a $4 million fight. Golovkin might fight someone other than Geale or he may be super confident of beating Geale. He will be disappointed.

    If he thinks Geale will be good preparation for someone like Jcc or Kessler then he will be disappointed alright!
    Hope Mack vs Flapper can be rescheduled. Was looking forward to that.

    It is indeed good for Geale the Macklin fight is cancelled. I believe Macklin would have won. If he'd lost to Mack there would be no GGG fight for Geale. It looks like Macklin is the big loser here.
