But did they win? Or did they end up KTFO?

They were both beaten by George but both tough little dudes finished the fight on their feet. Quawi surrendered after "giving best" and Johnson got stopped on a cut. so no, quawi and johnson did not get KTFO. Sorry about that.

marciano stays small and harder to hit. the old adage. I dont think he would beat George but a guy that has never lost or been stopped has to have some sort of chance against a guy who has both been stopped and lost.

Scrap Iron twice went the distance with Quarry , the ten rounds with Bugner drew with banger Manuel Ramos , went the full 10 with Frazier, and into the same seventh round with Liston
But nobody wants to hear it.

Like getting dropped by a 37years old and a 42 years old ?
Marciano never faced a real big heavyweight who was a monster puncher like Foreman. To have any chance Rocky must come forward, Foreman dreamt of little guys coming to him looking to trade, especially if they were as slow afoot Rocky

Without even noting the obvious (OK, I will note: Foreman was leagues better than Layne), Marciano softened up Layne with many rights and lefts over the previous 5 rounds before his coup de grace. He would have no such luxury of time against Foreman.

That's right Johnson was a good opponent. He gave bugner an excelent fight. He was good value.:good

But at the same time scrap iron johnsons durability and punching was not all time great class. Had he been able to make an impression with his punching he could have stemmed much of the firepower coming his way. Imagine Johnson's landing ratio with rockys power? With more durability scrap iron might not have been stopped so many times either.

The punches that decked marciano were good punches. A good punch is a good punch regardless of the age of the guy landing it- just ask Moorer. Walcott and Moore had better KO ratios than the guys who decked Foreman.

Certainly Foreman punches as hard as moore and Walcott but it was much easier to land a punch against him than it was to be hit by him. Those slow telegraphed, wide punches offered a lot of openings for a big puncher too.

Both of them hit harder than Jimmy Young and possibly Ali, so I wouldn't make too much of that.

Those were stamina related knockdowns. Not so much power driven. Moore and Walcott decked Marciano early when he was fresh.

Moore was a tremendous puncher, a record breaking knockout artist no less. He was the first man to knock out world rated south American heavyweight Aljandro Lavorante years and years later. Walcott produced stunning knockouts. There is no shame getting decked by them at all.
