Stiverne's first title defense: Alexander Povetkin *Spoiler Alert*

I'm pretty confident that Bermane Stiverne will defend his WBC-belt first against Alexander Povetkin. Here's why:

    1. Don King announced that Stiverne doesn't have to fight necessiraly mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder first.

    2. Stiverne wouldn't make much money with fighting Wilder. B-Ware will win the fight by early KO, but he can get injured and lose his belt, so he won't take the risk.

    3. Don King loves lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

    4. Povetkin's promoter Vladimir Hryunov probably has the largest amount of money available for a title fight. For the Klitschko fight, he paid $23,333,330.

    5. Hryunov wants Povetkin to get a major title belt.

    6. Povetkin is fighting a journeyman with Manuel Charr on May 30. Charr is high ranked in the WBC and holds several minor WBC belts. The vacant WBC International heavyweight title is on the line in the fight between Povetkin and Charr. A win for Povetkin can put him in a position to fight Stiverne.

    7. Hryunov and King did business before. Hryunov was mad at King for the Guillermo Jones - Lebedev fight. King owes Hryunov a new title fight after Jones-Lebedev II being cancelled.

    8. Klitschko wants to fight for the WBC-belt, but he has to pass Pulev first. I think he will fight Pulev in September to keep his belts and not to lose his IBF-belt to the Cobra.

    Your thoughts?

    Am I a genius or what? :deal:deal:deal:deal

If Hryunov puts up 30 mil for this fight then he will get it.

    I like this fight better

If Stiverne is world class he will win this

Wilder has a punch but he is an untested enigma, its hard to tell whether he will be real or get Seth Mitcheled

let him fight Jennings now that Perez is hurt make them earn the fight with a real eliminator not make both mandatories separately without earning the rank

The heavyweight division is slowly picking itself up out of the doldrums, if Povetkin loses to a guy like Charr the division again loses credibility. That said I think Sasha puts on a clinic

Of course most heavyweights will look for the only title that Wlad doesn't hold, its their best chance of picking up a belt. Povetkin is no different I'm sure he would like to face Stiverene. Thing is, no way will the same amount of money be put up for a Stiverene-Povetkin match as was for a Wlad-Povetkin match.

But I think for Stievrene Wilder brings in probably more money esp in the US and that is a higher reward lower risk fight. If Stievrene beats Wilder, he is the first guy to beat the KO artist, even though his record is remarkably padded, but if he beats Povetkin (which would be a tougher fight), he is only beating the guy Wlad widely outpointed and to an extent exposed.

Plus there is no better way for Povetkin to get his rematch than winning the WBC title and therefore leaving no choice to Wladimir but to fight him again. I'm sure that excluding Klitschko, Povetkin is able to offer Stiverne (Don King actually :) ) the best payday by far.

Manuel Charr is obviously just a name opponent (as he fought against Vitali in Russia) with little risk for Povetkin to get his name back in the mix. Also, assuming the match against Stiverne actually happens, it will be very interesting to see it, although I don't think that Povetkin would have much difficulties.

I assume that nothing is confirmed about this and that it's just your assumption, but it actually makes sense, although I would bet on this scenario happening.

Povetkin is a skilled and good fighter and a former Olympic Champion.
He's definitely a top 10 heavyweight and I think it would be a great fight with Stiverne. I'm almost certain he will beat Charr, who's a tough cookie to crack. If this happens it wil be around september (around the time Wlad & Kubrat will face each other)
No easy fight for both of them and I'd prefer this fight over a Wilder bout.
Let Wilder fight Tony Thompsn first, if he wins, he'll be ready for a shot.

IBF has stated and it´s in their rules supposedly that an unification fight is more important and should be come before a mandatory. All King has to do is bypass WBC´s mandatory and he has a mega fight with Wladimir :good

Would be great to see Povetkin and Hryunov snatch the belt away from K2 in an act of revenge for Wlads despicable behaviour in Moscow.

Looks to me it's going to be the unification afterall.
Either way both Povetkin and certainly Wlad would be clear favorites.
