Report from Dan Rafael. I dont mind this fight at all! Great substitute for Chavez jr who's having his problems with Top Rank (he anit the first) so even though I wanted to see Chavez jr get pounded, his beating will have to come another day. I like how GGG can stay in his weight class, fight a top 2-4 MW, regular HBO and then put the pressure on the Cotto-Martinez winner, which whoever wins, would be a war with GGG. Plus I sure didnt want to pay for Canelo-Lara then a week after pay for GGG-Chavez jr so things worked out. Obviously Geale has got to be Macklin but I think he will. Keep the Train rolling GGG!!! :bbb:bbb
+1. Geale is by far the best possible option for a summer fight. Would've been a shame to see him held up by inactivity or another unranked guy. :happy
I am sure Golovkin is estatic over the 90%+ reduction in purse he will be getting for this fight due to Chavez Jr screwing him out of the PPV.
What train mofo? He just fought a bum that was so lousy HBO didn't even air it...now the dreaded Gaele. Time to raise the bar GG fans.
It's a decent matchup. Geale is probably the best possible available opponent for Golovkin right now. Hopefully we'll see GGG vs. Martinez (if he beats Cotto) before the end of the year.
Had one fight left, Oct 2015 is just the final date for TR to deliver it. TR wanted one fight extension. Considering the amount of money they were throwing at Jr... minimum 12mil for 2 fights, 17mil if he beat GGG. Haymon reportedly promised him a 46mil deal if he turned down GGG though. So.. Arum gets to hold onto Jr until Oct of 2015. Guess we will find out if that offer from Haymon still good after the year+ layoff and JR has eaten himself up to Cruiser during the inactivity.
